Following the Inktober calendar, today's challenge is themed "RUST". I had several ideas, but truth be told, it was a bit complicated because, although there were many ideas, creative block appeared when it came to sketching. After several cups of coffee, I finally found an idea that fully satisfied me. The idea, although simple, fits the theme of the day quite well.
Hola amigos de Hive y comunidad de Holozing. Espero estén teniendo un lindo día. Continuamos con un nuevo día y nuevo reto del Zingtober. Siguiendo el calendario de Inktober, el reto correspondiente al día de hoy tenía por tema "RUST". Y tenía varias ideas, pero la verdad se me complicó un poco, porque aunque eran muchas las ideas, a la hora de hacer los bocetos, el bloqueo creativo aparecía. Después de varias tazas de café, logré encontrar una idea que me satisfizo del todo. La idea, aunque sencilla, se ajusta bastante al tema de este día.
First, I situated myself in the Holozing Universe, so I decided that it would be something between futuristic, steampunk, and natural. That interaction between technology and nature that characterizes Holozing. The essential idea was to create a robot that has started to rust after being caught in a storm. The rain caused a small short circuit, which rendered it unable to move, and the rust began to cover its still wet body.
Lo primero fue ubicarme en el Universo de Holozing, por eso decidí que sería algo entre futurista, steampunk y natural. Esa interacción entre la tecnología y lo natural que caracteriza a Holozing. La idea esencial fue crear un robot que ha comenzado a oxidarse después de ser sorprendido por una tormenta. La lluvia provocó un pequeño cortocircuito, esto hizo que no pudiera moverse y el óxido comenzara a cubrir su cuerpo aún mojado.
Sketching the structure was a bit of a headache because I'm not used to drawing robots. I thought of a kind of anime mecha as the protagonist, but I ended up with a very kawaii result. Achieving the effect of rust and deterioration was quite challenging. I opted to make small lines around the surface and some dots, playing with linear value to get depths and shadows. A bit of base color, of course the model of the robot is HOLOZING 001, and the Holozing logo.
La estructura del boceto fue un poco un dolor de cabeza porque no acostumbro a dibujar robots. Pensé en una especie de mecha anime como protagonista, pero terminé obteniendo un resultado muy kawaii. Lograr el efecto de óxido y deterioro fue algo difícil. Opté por hacer pequeñas líneas alrededor de la superficie y algunos puntos, jugando con el valor linear para obtener profundidades y sombras. Un poco de color base, por supuesto el modelo del robot es HOLOZING 001, y el logo de Holozing.
Lastly, I added water droplets falling from its body, shining in the light. The robot tells us what happened in a dialogue. As usual in Inktober, I made the entire drawing in black, but since I'm giving a finishing touch to all the last days of Zingtober, I decided to experiment with color, and I really liked the result.
Agregué por último las gotas de agua cayendo de su cuerpo, brillando por la luz. El robot nos cuenta lo sucedido en un diálogo. Por supuesto, como es habitual en el Inktober, realicé todo el dibujo en base al color negro, pero como estoy dándole un acabado a todos los últimos días del Zingtober, decidí experimentar con el color, y me gustó mucho el resultado.
Perhaps it's not the best technique, but the result filled me with pride, especially the robot theme. Maybe I'll dedicate some time to learning more about robot structure.
Quizás no es la mejor técnica, pero el resultado me llenó de orgullo, sobre todo el tema del robot. Quizás le dedique un tiempo a aprender más sobre la estructura de los robots.
