It's almost midnight, and I'm still scrambling to finish my very first entry for the #Zingtober fest! I definitely don't want to miss the first day of the event, so I've been pushing hard to complete my artwork for today.
I've seen the entries from other participants, and I noticed a trend in the presentation. Many are featuring Holomon-inspired backpacks, so I decided to follow that trend as well, lol. It's like a collaboration between Holozing and #Inktober—hence, #Zingtober!
My entry for today features... Zingru!
My approach to #Zingtober is quite straightforward—just pure ink. It's my first time participating in this event, so I don't have a clear direction yet. However, I figured I'd stick to what I used to do back when I was studying: using my tech pen to draw and shade. The only difference now is that I'm using my iPad with the ProCreate app.
To start, I used the ProCreate pen to roughly sketch the design of my backpack.
And then I started drawing the final lines once I'm happy with the overall proportion.
Then, I filled in the areas with pure black ink to simulate the shading and shadows. It’s a single-tone technique, with no gradients, to capture the effect of a tech pen-style drawing.
As a finishing touch, I drew a fountain pen in the foreground to add extra interest to my #Zingtober entry. Here's the final result!
Thank you for checking out my first #Zingtober entry! I’m excited to keep experimenting and see where this creative journey takes me.
