house renovations in the medieval quarter

Dear DIY friends,

Here are some snaps of this particularly messy process to remove a large work surface, which I began spontaneously this afternoon.

I'm cleaning up all the disfunctional corners of the Arthouse, with a hope to sell up and move further into wild nature...

This is the room I made into the second bathroom plus a kind of storage/ workspace - I originally removed two cement and brick cube-shaped vats, which had been used for wine-making.

The bath tub came from the balcony of a house above mine in the centro storico - it was used as a planter before I took it!

This removal of the work surface also means removal of years of cardboard boxes, tubes and pipes, polystyrene and planks of wood from various jobs... It feels favoloso to throw it all - mostly - into the recycling! I hope to then store the good pieces of wood up above in another room, where they'll be more out of the way.

The deconstruction itself has been relatively easy: rather cathartic in fact! Lots of hammering and levering. Lots of fulfilling crashes and crumps as bricks and cement loosen and fall.

The room already looks MUCH bigger, much wider... It is going to be a proper huge bathroom with plants and shelves, cushions and nice lighting... So excited!!

Blessings and love to all - I'm off to cook spaghetti for dinner...
