Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it according to the Julian calendar
may the luck, abundance and love surrounds you!
Kitty says hello, not much interested in what is happening around and why are all in such a rush. Well, at least some of them.
Christmas Eve tends to be defined in the fact that we abstain from eating fatty foods such as meat and dairy products (apart from fish), the preparation of tasty Christmas snacks (which can be tricky as nothing can be tasted), and the evening gathering around the church where the Christmas tree is traditionally ignited and midnight is welcomed.
I fell asleep much earlier, similar time as I did on NY eve
Less time in the kitchen means more time to spy on what others are doing. No drama holiday celebration in our home, nice lunch with custom bread and no way to be left out - chocolate coconut cake. Apart from the shopping rush, the unusually pleasant weather additionally lured some of the old school locals on the sunny streets.
Attitude like nothing happens on this day, calmly discussing god knows what, except from the hand gestures that might be saying something of big importance.
Two middle-aged women near the lake who are obviously busy searching for something in bag (this part will probably only women understand), do not appear like sharing joyful spirit.
Does we people ever get tired of celebrations, especially those "predictable" traditional ones.
If every one of us had a micro-tradition of our own, held on the same day that it is also collective, what would happen?
Would that be against the rules?
One of the customs is to stay at home on that sacred day and do not go visiting, else you will be wandering during whole year.
(I personally moved on the second day of Christmas a couple of years ago, and haven't moved any more than usual over the following years)
(bored or tired, waiting for something to begin or end)
Do not argue or be upset; otherwise, you will be caught up in misunderstandings and fights throughout the year.
Are we invited to pretend to be perfectly fine no matters what?
It doesn't comes naturally to me, if we gonna fight we will, no walking on egg shells on whatever day.
Big city euphoric rush can not be compared to this atmosphere, thanks to smaller population, emotions are more visible, everything rolls out in slowly, each corner gives you a chance for longer observation.
No one will accidentally pop in the frame!
(often you literally pray for some crowd)
The fair stands have been closed for a long time, lanterns still adorn them, but that is their only remaining purpose in the last days, although I personally think that it should be held just before Christmas itself. Most of the goods sold on market are actually local products.
I'll be missing seeing them open or closed.
...had to give up spying on others people life's and hit the kitchen road to prepare our traditionally nontraditional Christmas feast.
