Blessed day my dear and appreciated needleworkers, I hope you are well. Today I am happy to be able to participate in the second edition of our special barbie dress up contest. This contest came up in a very casual and spontaneous way, and it has already become the most awaited by all the members of the community. I have already seen excellent entries and I am excited to see how our community has grown. It has grown in terms of the number of members as it has grown in terms of the quality of the publications and the commitment of each one of us who make life here. Today I feel very proud and honored to be a needleworker and to be able to share with you a new outfit for my barbie.
My doll Kalanny has been the model of my crochet creations since that first community contest. Since then Kalanny has allowed me to materialize some dress designs that I have always wanted to crochet, since making them in real size would be very complicated.
This time Kalanny has allowed me to fulfill half of one of my dreams.
In the month of January my daughter will be 15 years old and I always dreamed of being able to make her quinceañera dress together with my mother, as we have done in each of the most important events of her life. However, due to current circumstances that will not be possible. Although happily a few days ago I was able to receive my mother, who traveled from Venezuela to spend Christmas with us, we do not have a sewing machine to be able to make a dress of such magnitude. So I took the opportunity of the contest to capture in Kalanny the dress design I dreamed of for my daughter.
Kalanny of course was very willing and happy to return to the NeedleWorkMonday stage where she has always been warmly welcomed and supported.
For every mother her daughter is a princess and I am no exception. However, my daughter is a princess a little bit different, since she is not the typical girl who loves pink color, she prefers blue color, so her dress for her 15th birthday had to be in that color. So you can understand that my little girl is the "blue princess" of this story represented in Kalanny.
I really enjoyed the process of making it. I can tell you that I had the design drawn in my mind for a long time, so I just took my crochet, the blue yarn and I started to knit the bodice of the dress, which will be the only knitted part. I don't have a pattern, as it was a very fluid process that emerged with each stitch until I got the result I was hoping for.
The final and most complicated step was to attach the bodice to the skirt, I had a few details to solve but finally it was as I wished. As a special touch I placed a huge golden bow on the back of the dress, very typical of princess dresses. While making this dress I felt like the Fairy Godmother dressing Cinderella for the ball. Kalanny was fascinated with her dress and ready to go to the big NeedleWorkMonday event.
I really feel very happy with the result, my mom and my daughter were also fascinated with the dress, our next challenge will be to find a dress as similar as possible for the birthday party. It was a real pleasure to participate in the second edition of this contest, I hope there will be many more in the future and I am anxious to see the creations of my colleagues. Thanks for reading, greetings and blessings.
