World Oceans Day 8 June

The ratio of ocean cover to land is 70/30, i.e. the ocean covers approximately 70 percent of the total land cover. It is an ecologically diverse life-supporting medium consisting of millions numbers of species.
It is a source of about 50% of the oxygen in the earth's atmosphere. It is a source of diverse organisms and a source of protein. It fulfills the demand for the protein of approximately one billion people on Earth. It is a source of livelihood for millions of people around the world. In 2030, roughly 40 percent of the people will be employed in the ocean-based industry.

As I describe the importance of the Ocean, the ocean now needs support.
Ocean provides several goods and services but we are taking much more than its replenishing capacity. The overconsumption of ocean resources depletes the resource, i.e., they cannot replenish themselves. The population of big fish is reduced by 90% and the population of Corel reep is destroyed by 50%. In such a harsh condition we need to join hands and stop the destruction of ocean resources.

For this purpose 8 June is celebrated as World Ocean Day. The aim of observing this day is to raise awareness about the importance of ocean resources, understand how we are destroying them, and teach how to restore the ocean to its normal functioning.
