My morning visits with a beautiful Scarlet Macaw was such a delightful experience. This bird lived in the tropical foliage surrounding the Couples Tower Isle Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. This was my first visit to a Caribbean Island back in 2017 and it did not disappoint.
With all the heavy snow we have been getting and the cold nights, I have been wishing I was back in the tropics. I went back through some photo files and found some nice ones from that trip and decided I would share some of them throughout a few posts.
Today, I will start with my daily visit with this magnificent bird and a bit of the tropical plants.
Scarlet Macaw
He is busy nodding his head and making a few sounds to say hello to me. We got to enjoy each other over the 10-day stay. He would bob up and down when he would spot me coming up the path.
Now, he is surveying the plant near the tree and decided to climb down to inspect. It was not long before he focused on one of the Palm branches.
His strong beak broke the branch so fast. He bent it over and began to devour the stalk for breakfast.
I stood by waiting for him to finish all the while chatting away as if he could understand me. I did tell him over and over again how beautiful he was.
The cane is almost finished and I am beginning to get hungry myself. So, off to breakfast, I go after saying my goodbyes for now.
I still think fondly upon our daily visits and wonder how the parrot is doing all these years later.
Stay tuned for some more photo memories of my tropical vacation coming soon.
