First time reconnecting with nature this year

Being an adult is not funny. It's not like I'm saying something new as we all get to feel this more or less with the test of time, but I do start feeling this more and more lately.

Everyone dreams of jumping from being a kid into an adult wondering how college is while they are at high school, then wondering how work is when they are at college, and then, oh well, realizing that once you start your adult life that involves work, nothing is funny anymore, nor have the occasion to enjoy lots of free time as you could while being part of the other two phases of life.

Obviously, there are also exceptions where some people begin working at a very early age or skip some school phases, but I'm speaking here about the majority.

The college I opted to follow is amongst the hardest ones in my country, and so there wasn't really time for a job too, having few occasions when I had free time and those used either in the company of my friends or travelling with my family.

Once that ended, I was hit by a big wave of changes that started to pop into my life, travelling less and less with each passing year.

So while this became a privilege rather than a tradition as we used to call it happening quite often in my youth, I only got to enjoy my first trip after one-third of 2024 had passed.

Actually, I had two more occasions to reconnect with nature by going to the forest pretty close to where I'm living, but due to lack of time, I had to decline the opportunities. Having no time even for a walk in the park.

So after a full month of constant work and not even a single day off at least during the weekend, I said "F#ck it! I really need my freedom back! - so with the occasion of having my parents visiting me, we picked a destination that my mother read on the internet and then we hit the road. It was a three-hour-long ride which normally I'd hate, but this time I enjoyed every minute of it since I was missing so much my old lifestyle.

We were heading to a location quite far from where I'm living which seemed like a unique thing for Romania having just around 7 days when you can see this phenomenon, namely, to walk in a forest that shelters more paths entirely covered by all kinds of flowers species.

The main attraction were the wild tulips which also serve as the name of a street from the village the forest belongs to. Based on the pictures I've seen on the internet these were supposed to leave no space on the ground for the grass or the leaves of the trees having so many tulips taking control over this forest.

But while we respected the period when these are supposed to bloom, after facing the hottest day in April of all time with 30°C degrees, and after many crazy changes in terms of weather conditions, nature had no choice but to adapt to all of this.

Sadly, that led to having the flowers bloom a bit earlier than normal but also last for less than they would normally do, and that turned us into assisting into a full valley of dead flowers, being a rare thing to find one standing still here and there where they were still protected by the shadow of the trees.

Even though that brought a bit of sadness since we were looking forward to this unique phenomenon, we still spent some time in the woods, listening to the birds' trill, admiring the green scenery and observing every single plant that appeared in our way.

Visiting the forest with tulips was just one of our stops of that day, as quite in the same area there were a few more forests each with different flowers to see like roses or crocus, but since the tulips were supposed to be the ones lasting the longest out of all, we realized that it's impossible to find the other flowers while the tulips were already almost gone.

But even so, we did manage to catch up with some flowers, which even though are more common in forests rather than those we were looking for, they still brought a bit more colour to our lives, making us happy for our first reconnection with nature this year. And hopefully, we won't need to wait another four months until our next reconnection.

What about you? Did you manage to have any trips this year already?
It's nature also affected on your part of the globe because of all the global warming?
