Fundraising: DAOs vs GoFundMe

You may be fundraising for a healthcare bill, or you may be fundraising for your next big project. Either way, the question comes down to how to best do it. Web2 or web3?

For my current needs, I decided on both routes. Unfortunately I am not using it to fundraise my next project, I wish I was. Instead, I am fundraising for my younger sibling's upcoming heart transplant.

In the two days that I have had a DAO funding round open and a GoFundMe up I have honestly seen very few results, but at the moment web2 is winning. I'm currently sitting on a whole lot of zero for my DAO funding round, but thankfully was able to raise $100 on GoFundMe so far. It's a far cry from where I need to be, but it has only been two days.

I'm honestly not that surprised that GoFundMe is faring better than the DAO, solely because of this bear market we are in. It's a difficult time to raise money in web3 no matter the reason. But I plan to keep trying!

You can find the DAO here, and the GoFundMe here if you have any interest in contributing.
