Hello friends of Hive! A few years ago I had the opportunity to work for a time in radio and I will tell you a little about what I did there.
Hola amigos de Hive! Hace algunos años tuve la oportunidad de trabajar por un tiempo en radio y les contaré un poco de que hacía allí.
I worked for two years in radio as a studio operator. There are two types of operators, there are the “hot studio” operators, which are the operators who handle the consoles in studios where live programming is broadcast, these are usually in the same space where the speaker.
Trabajé durante dos años en radio como operador de estudio. Existen dos tipos de operadores, existen los operadores de “estudio caliente”, que son los operadores que manejan las consolas en los estudios donde se transmite la programación en vivo, estos suelen estar en el mismo espacio donde se encuentra el locutor.
There are also those of "cold studio" which are the operators who still manage the console to record programs that are not live, but will be broadcast later. Here the operator is not necessarily at the same table as the announcer, but may be divided by glass, separating the booth. This studio has the advantage that you can work more calmly to achieve a good result, there is no pressure of being live and the announcer can make several repetitions in the recording so that everything is as good as possible. Here I take the opportunity to clarify, those terms to refer to the operators, I learned them in Venezuela, I don't know if they are also called that way in other countries.
También están los de “estudio frío” que son los operadores que igual manejan la consola para grabar programas que no están en vivo, sino que serán transmitidos después. Acá no necesariamente el operador está en la misma mesa del locutor, sino que puede estar dividido por un vidrio, separando la cabina. Este estudio tiene la ventaja de que se puede trabajar con más calma para lograr un buen resultado, no hay la presión de estar en vivo y el locutor puede hacer varias repeticiones en la grabación para que todo quede lo mejor posible. Acá aprovecho de aclarar, esos términos para referirse a los operadores, los aprendí en Venezuela, no sé si en otros países también se les dicen así.
During that period I was, as I mentioned before, at RNV (Radio Nacional de Venezuela) this is one of the most important radio stations in the country and the largest since it has 73 stations. I was in charge of the main studio of the headquarters in Caracas, it was a cold cabin studio where I recorded different programs, edited and put together following the instructions of the producers or announcers.
Durante ese período estuve como mencioné antes, en RNV (Radio Nacional de Venezuela) esta es una de las radios más importantes del país y la más grande ya que tiene 73 emisoras. Yo me ocupaba del estudio principal de la sede en caracas, era un estudio de cabina fría donde grababa distintos programas, editaba y armaba siguiendo las indicaciones de los productores o locutores.
The recordings were quite varied, there were days where they were news programs, other sports, but my favorite was to record a program that was about classical music. The announcer gave me a CD, for example, of a Beethoven or Chopin symphony and talked about the chosen piece, making a review so that the listeners could learn facts or curiosities about the subject, it was quite entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot.
Las grabaciones eran bastante variadas, había días donde eran programas de noticias, otros de deportes, pero mi favorito era grabar un programa que era sobre música clásica. El locutor me daba un CD por ejemplo de alguna sinfonía de Beethoven o Chopin y hablaba al respecto de la pieza que se eligiera, haciendo como una reseña para que los oyentes aprendieran datos o curiosidades sobre el tema, era bastante entretenido y lo disfruté bastante.
