Anime Lovers’ Happy Place

Hello my lovely readers!

Have you ever spent a lifetime thinking about where to eat with friends?

Yep. I did that too, we all did at some point. Thankfully last weekend my friends and I only spent a second thinking about the place and food.

It is a go to place in Sagay City, The Greedy Pig.

Featuring these spicy tuna maki and fresh piknik (potato mini cuts) as they entice you for a while… here, take one!

I remember the first time I ate maki, it was just marvelous, especially when you know how to eat with chopsticks. This order is also good for people who can feel the spice easily, so I can say that this will be loved by non spicy eaters.

The best part is, it is not a typical restaurant.

The Greedy Pig is a Japanese anime themed restaurant where all the famous anime like Naruto, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, etc are in every corner of their walls. Their servers also wore maid costumes!

Can you see the Manga walls?

Let me give you a perspective on the left side of their place.

They filled their walls with Manga, Japanese comic book pages. You can even see Naruto being highlighted and made into artwork. They even have a wooden chair which is perfect for picture taking.

Here’s a sample.

So how did we land this place?

My friend Rhiz is from Sagay City and she mentioned a good themed restaurant that is not common in our place, Bacolod City. So as an individual outside of town, we happily tried to eat at this place and looking back, this sends nostalgia to my bones wanting me to come back to The Greedy Pig soonest.

For the food, I mentioned earlier that we tried the maki and piknik. The other mouthwatering purple dessert you see there is called Halo-Halo.

Served in a wooden spoon and bowl, this dessert, Halo-Halo literally translates to mix-mix because the term “halo” in Tagalog language is “mix” in English.

Yes we just mix the desserts we love in a bowl or a cup. You can see here is ube ice cream, purple yam, leche flan, banana and at the bottom is jackfruit, coconut, corn, sago, beans and what keeps them together is the evaporated or fresh milk with ice shavings.

This is what it looks like after mixing.

Just a bowl of goodness! They have big servings so we just shared it with a pair.

So why do we need a lot of ice?

It is because the Philippines is a tropical country and that means we experience a lot of heat waves during summer. So if you ever visit here, expect that a lot of cafes will have cold desserts and drinks. You will always have a tasty treat.

I forgot to say we ordered through a decree.

This is my friend Eddie holding the scroll of life, I mean the menu.

They have scrolls for the menu! Just the cutest thing for this restaurant. You pick your food and roll again to close. I love their concept of not having the regular rectangle booklet. It feels like you are reading the ancient scroll of an old era.

The enjoyment this restaurant gave me doesn’t end with food.

This time, I said yes to costumes. You can even see the warcry of my friend!

These are my chaotic friends. From left to right Ten, Eddie, Me, Bea and Rhiz.

They have varieties of costumes too.

They have Demon Slayer swords, One Piece Hats, Maid costumes, masks and many more. This is us choosing our characters. We giggled as we were trying on these robes and accessories.

Eddie even opted to have the full Tanjiro costume!

This restaurant is just too cute. From the ambience to food to their costumes and concepts. Anime lovers would really love this place. Even older adults come back here because of their food, their friendly servers and their safe neighborhood. I can say that this place is hard not to love.

I am hoping that I could go back here soon to feature more foods and try their other drinks as well.

I am glad that I found a new place to create new memories with me and my friends. I hope you can find yours too.

Thank you for reading!

With all the love, Jani.
