Here I am again, barefoot. One of my favorite places to enjoy pasta and pizza in Chiang Mai. This spot is a bit hidden on the other side of town, close to some other concealed bars and coffee shops, all of which are quite cool. (I see this as a hipster spot to hang out!)
Barefoot, in particular, serves both lunch and dinner and specializes in their freshly made pizza with fresh dough and pasta. They offer a variety of pasta options, whether flat or not, with or without egg.
This post combines several visits to this place, showcasing a variety of dishes. I typically opt for pasta, but I made a promise to myself to try their cold soba with the same type of noodle one of these days, and I finally did. It turned out to be not the best choice from their menu, so I'll stick to pasta in the future, steering clear of the Japanese-Italian fusion.
My go-to is the pesto pasta, paired with a refreshing salad, which goes incredibly well with their homemade sauces. Their carbonara and other pasta options are also so good.
**You definitely shouldn't miss their chickpea brick fries. Instead of using regular potato fries, which we also tried and found good, the chickpea fries are on a whole new level. Not many places offer them, making this dish a rare find.
Their pizza is incredibly fresh with a very thin crust, and it's the perfect size to share between two people, along with another side dish. If you're dining solo, one flavor is just right.
The prices are very reasonable (pasta from 1xx to 2xx THB and pizza roughly from 2xx to 3xx), and the atmosphere is as inviting as a friend's home.
In the evening, you can enjoy live music at nearby places, and there's a great coffee shop called Chapter 2 right across the aisle if you visit in the morning. This is definitely a must-visit spot in Chiang Mai, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
