A Wisconsin Crock Pot Story : Beef Sirloin Roast

With the ground covered in snow and a late Green Bay Packers game on Sunday, Sunday was the perfect day for some crockpot love. The new dish we tried was centered around beef sirloin roast from our local meat CSA. With some root vegetables added to the mix, this one turned out to out to be a good slow cook option.

To start with, I threw three tablespoons of butter in the bottom of the cooker. As always, I used grass-fed / no salt butter.

I then cut up a few yellow Yukon gold potatoes and white onions and subsequently placed them on top of the butter.

Next on the list was to cut up some carrots...

I then placed them on top of the onions and potatoes.

I put the crockpot on low at this point and then made the broth for the beef. That included the following ingredients :

  • Worcester sauce
  • Corn starch
  • Apple juice
  • Tomato sauce
  • Beef broth
  • Miscellaneous seasonings

After a bit of whisking, it was time to get the beef ready.

Once placed on top of the bed of veggies, I poured the broth over the beef; I then covered and put it on low to cook for 8 hours.

It doesn't get much more Sconnie than that! As the meal cooked slowly throughout the day, the house filled with a wonderful smell. It's one of my favorite things in cold weather, especially when we go on a family walk with Ms. Mabes, only to come home and smell such a fantastic meal in the works.

Finally, the finished product:

Abracadabra and dinner was ready! Easy, hearty, and filling; these are my most favorite type of meals to make.

That's my #foodiesforlife share for the week. Hopefully more to come as we continue to try new things with our crockpot Sunday adventures. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
