One of my best pastry is meat pie, the combination of crunchiness, soft meaty texture and the vegetable all together just makes it feel like heaven in the mouth.
I enjoy meat pie more when it’s hot and fresh out of the oven, the aroma alone is enough to satisfy and quench your hunger
I usually make up to 120 meat pies a day base on order and I must tell you for fact that it’s fun when making pastries
Pastry art is so beautiful mixing different ingredients together to form something classic, crunchy and chewable is just so gorgeous.

As usual y’all know that I’ll give you the recipe of this food art work as well as the method of making it
Incase you are hosting a few friends over at your place and you are thinking of something exciting to make, meat pie is the perfect idea.

Now let’s go over the recipe; when it comes to baking meat pie, there two things to make. First the pie dough; and secondly the sauce

Recipe for the dough

  1. Flour: 500g
  2. Butter:250g
  3. Salt:1tsp
  4. Cold water: 1/4 cup

Recipe for sauce

  1. Minced beaf:500g
  2. Onions:1 (medium bulb)
  3. Carrot:200g
  4. Irish potatoes:200g
  5. Green bell pepper:100g
  6. Ginger and garlic (optional):1tsp each
  7. Seasoning :1tsp
  8. Salt:1tsp
  9. Vegetable oil:1/2 cup

#Method of cooking the sauce

  1. Dice the carrot and potatoes, wash it and boils it till it’s done
  2. Place a pot on fire and add oil
  3. Add onions and sauté for few seconds
  4. Add minced beef and keep stirring till it’s cooked
  5. Add seasoning and salt, stir together
  6. Add the boiled carrot and potatoes, and diced green bell pepper
  7. Stir till it’s combined
  8. Add ginger and garlic, stir and let it seamer for few seconds and it’s done
  9. Set aside and let it cool down completely

#method of making the dough

  1. Sieve flour in a bowl
  2. Add salt and stir together
  3. Add butter and mix it until it’s well combined
  4. Add water and mix till it form a dough (Ps: do not knead the dough hence, it will become stretchy and hard)
  5. Once your dough is formed, set it aside to rest

How to make the meat pie

  1. Get a meat pie cutter
  2. Cut a small size from the dough and roll it out in a flat circle shape with a rolling pin
  3. Place the rolled out dough on the cutter
  4. Fill the middle with at least 1tbsp of the sauce
  5. Rub some water on the edges of the dough with your finger( to avoid the dough from opening when baking it)
  6. Close the cutter and remove the excess dough
  7. Place your pie on a coated baking tray ( you can use vegetable oil or butter to coat the tray)
  8. Egg wash your pie ( mixture of 1 medium egg and 1tbsp of water)
  9. Bake in your oven at 180 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
