Feliz día de Reyes a toda la Comunidad de Hive, sobre todo a la Comunidad Hive Sucre. Creo que todavía me da tiempo de compartir con ustedes fotos que le tomé al pesebre navideño de mi hogar, esta es una tradición merideña que acostumbramos colocarla siempre en Diciembre. A pesar de no haber nacido en Mérida, ya que mis padres son oriundos de Mérida, región andina de Venezuela, puedo decir que de igual forma estoy arraigada a estas costumbres. Así que quise enseñarles esta bonita tradición navideña y hablarles un poco.

Happy Three Kings Day to all the Hive Community, especially to the Hive Sucre Community. I think I still have time to share with you photos I took of the Christmas crib in my home, this is a Merida tradition that we always use to place it in December. Although I was not born in Merida, since my parents are from Merida, in the Andean region of Venezuela, I can say that I am rooted in these customs. So I wanted to show you this beautiful Christmas tradition and tell you a little about it.

En mi casa no acostumbramos colocar el Arbol de navidad , por eso siempre armamos el pesebre el 15 de diciembre con: papel para nacimiento, musgo para hacer un adorno (una especie de monte), luces, colocamos las obejas, el niño Jesús, la virgen María y José. Como hoy es 6 día de enero, Día de los Reyes Magos, lo colocamos en el pesebre acompañando al niño Jesús para que nos bendiga en este nuevo año y nos traiga cosas maravillosas que deseamos con el corazón para que se cumpla, así lo honramos y celebramos este día.

In my house we do not usually place the Christmas tree, so we always set up the manger on December 15 with paper for the nativity, moss to make an ornament (a kind of mountain), lights, place the sheep, the baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary and Joseph. As today is January 6th, the Day of the Three Kings, we place it in the manger accompanying the baby Jesus so that he blesses us in this new year and brings us wonderful things that we wish to be fulfilled, so we honor him and celebrate this day.

El 2 de enero se hace la paradura del niño, se levanta el niño y se le busca padrinos. Normalmente hacemos un bizcochuelo y vino para darle a los invitados y a los que van a tocar, se reza y se le canta con violín y cuatro. Esta paradura se extiende hasta el 2 de Febrero, día de la Candelaria. Es una tradición de los Andes Venezolanos, todos los años lo hacemos.

On January 2, the paradura of the child takes place, the child is raised and godparents are sought. Normally we make a bizcochuelo and wine to give to the guests and those who are going to play, we pray and sing with violin and cuatro. This paradura lasts until February 2nd, Candlemas Day. It is a tradition of the Venezuelan Andes, we do it every year.

La verdad es que me gusta mucho esta tradición, me parece demasiado bonita y así podemos compartir en familia de una manera sana. A pesar de haber nacido en Cumaná, comparto igualmente las dos costumbres de ambos estados con mucho orgullo y estoy feliz de que me haya tocado tenerlas. Me siento más Venezolana que nunca y me siento feliz de poder celebrarlas.

The truth is that I like this tradition, I think it is very nice and we can healthily share it with the family. Even though I was born in Cumaná, I share the two customs of both states with great pride and I am happy that it was my turn to have them. I feel more Venezuelan than ever and I am happy to be able to celebrate them.
