Typical Acehnese Bulukat

Acehnese typical bulukat is one of the dishes often served during the Prophet's birthday celebrations in Aceh. "Bulukat" is a term in Acehnese that means sticky rice, and this food is usually sticky rice cooked with coconut milk, salt, and various traditional spices.

The Maulid celebration in Aceh, known as "Khanduri Maulid", is usually lively and can last for months, from the month of Rabiul Awal to Jumadil Akhir.

This cake is made from glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk until it becomes soft and sticky. Once cooked, the bulukat is wrapped in banana leaves, which gives it a distinctive aroma and maintains its softness. In Acehnese tradition, this bulukat cake is neatly arranged, often decorated, and is an important part of the celebration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, which is a major celebration in Acehnese culture.

Serving Bulukat at Mawlid events is usually a symbol of gratitude and togetherness, where people gather to share this food together.
