Sixty-domed mosque is located in Bagerhat district of Bangladesh, which is a symbol of world heritage located in our country. Bagerhat's Sixty Dome Mosque is one of the world heritage and best sightseeing places in Bangladesh. Sixty-domed mosque is one of the three world heritage sites in Bangladesh. In 1985, UNESCO gave this place the status of World Heritage.
One of the oldest examples of Muslim architecture in the Indian subcontinent is the sixty-domed mosque. Sixty-domed mosque has no inscription anywhere, so the exact time of construction of this mosque is not known. It is believed to have been built by Khan Jahan Ali in the 15th century. Khan Jahan Ali was a Muslim preacher and local ruler of Bagerhat, Bangladesh.
Apart from the Sixty Domed Mosque, Bagerhat has many other historical monuments that will attract your attention. The total number of domes in the sixty-domed mosque is 81. There are 60 pillars in the interior of the mosque. The mosque has four minarets and the four minarets are located at the four corners of the mosque. According to many, the mosque is built on sixty stone pillars, hence the name of the mosque is Sixty Domed Mosque.
The holder and bearer of world heritage in Bangladesh is this sixty-domed mosque, which was a privilege to see in front of the eyes. On September 11, 2019, I visited the Sixty Domed Mosque. I was surprised to see the ancient architecture of the mosque. Seeing such an ancient artifact face to face will be a memorable moment. I am happy to share with you the pictures of Sixty Dome Mosque.
There is a museum near the Sixty Domed Mosque. I also entered the museum. The museum has many ancient artefacts such as carved bricks, plates, bowls, replicas of the Sixty Domed Mosque, various terracotta items, replicas of crocodiles, etc.
The Bagerhat Museum was built in 1995 as a joint initiative of UNESCO and the Government of Bangladesh. Bagerhat city was formerly known as Khilafatabad. And the history, traditions and ancient monuments of this city are preserved in Bagerhat Museum.
Finally I will say that Sixty Dome Mosque is the best sightseeing place in Bangladesh which is a symbol of history and tradition. Basically, there are many ancient monuments of Bangladesh in the entire Bagerhat district. So a trip to the ancient Bagerhat district will see many things to see.
