Harvesting

Yesterday was our last day in Portugal and it was a busy one. We started harvesting oranges, tangerines, and especially lemons. The two lemon trees were full of fruit and we wanted to take some home to give away to friends and family. The are a total of 7 citric trees, the orange and tangerines are not very big and the previous owners had taken some of the fruits, but the two lemon trees are quite big, and they both were full of lemons. We had a one-side ladder which was hard to use as you needed one of the tree branches to fix it before using it, but the big lemon tree was not a problem as I was able to climb :)

We picked two varieties of tangerines, sweet green oranges and naval oranges which made a full box.

But the amount of lemons was so big, that we left one of the trees with many of them and yet were able to fill two more boxes.

Later, at noon, our friends who helped discover this beauty of land came in for a toast, and we had some wine with them. We still had time to drive to the city and purchase a couple of things we needed before coming back in the evening to leave the rest of the stuff in the tiny house and I could not help to shoot a photo of the sunset from the land. We still had some time to spend with the Spanish neighbors of the apartment before heading home. We are happy to have met them and look forward to sharing some time with them again in the future.

Today is gonna be a long driving day again, but I now started to realize we have a new beautiful piece of land to take care of and receive its treats and I can not be more happy.
