Harvests, Winter Squash, Snow Valley Garlic Farm Festival, Life Flight, Slowest Line Ever, Garlic Haul - Saturday

It took me a while to get out to pick yesterday morning as I had the PDC on. The summer squash are done except for the 3 monsters I will pick today. The cucumbers are dwindling and I still have to cut the water to the tomatoes. We are getting frost tonight so much will be picked and I might have to move the miner to the greenhouse.

The moths are insane this year. So much bigger than other years.

The last of the winter squash got pulled and amounted to 42 pounds in all.

After lunch we got in the car and drove the hour north to the Snow Valley Garlic Farm in Priest River Idaho.

We managed to make it through the insane dust on the road and parked in the field.

The line to buy garlic was insanely long and never was shorter. We got to the farm at 1pm and I was in line waiting. There were vendors setup all around and @stryeyz and the boys wandered them all. I was in the line so slowly moving forward it was almost unbearable.

1 hour 30 minutes in the line and a kerfuffle happened on the east end of the vendor area. I had seen the old woman teetering around the event with her oxygen bottle on her hip and tubes in her nose. Super thin and frail looking. The woman in line in front of me was a paramedic and ran over to see if she could help but there was already people giving her chest compressions. The old woman died for a while but got brought back. The medics all showed up then as I was nearing the counter FINALLY we heard the sound of the life flight helicopter inbound. I sent @stryeyz out to get pics.

OMG the wait was insanity. This is the list of their garlic varieties. Only about half were in stock but enough for me. I got 1 pound each of the Armenian, Lukan, Carpathian, Penasco Blue, Georgian Crystal, and Persian Star.

Last year I grew Inchelium, Uzbekistan, and Northern White. Shipping in a week or two will be the Transylvanian, Siberian, Lorz Italian, and Nootka Rose. I will have 13 different garlic growing over the winter! Now I know to give them more water in spring for bigger bulbs so we could have a super garlic harvest next summer.

After 2 hours of waiting I was finally outside with my 6 pounds of garlic as the life flight was lifting off. My body was SO SORE from the standing and all I wanted was to head for home.

I wanted to get work done around the farm once home but my body was not having it. I did get some wood moved and a couple small things done.

I am getting a good bit better now and damn it I was close, just in the neighbor...

I pulled my 3 garlics from the cooler where they had been stratifying and set them with the 6 new ones. Next year we will be growing mainly potatoes and garlic with the other rows the veggies for us daily.

Soaking was really nice on my super sore body. Sleep ended up meh, and I'm still pretty sore this morning.

PDC Swiss finals is on and Barney is in the quarter finals! Man Utd are likely to get embarrassed again, and my day is going to be all about prepping for the 30F frost we are getting tonight. Summer squash are getting last ones picked then plants pulled, potato rows will get covered with row cover, greenhouse closed up and possibly the heater put inside, and the house plants moved to the studio and the grow light setup for them.

Shit I'm tired just looking at the list....
