The joy of visiting my maize and Cassava farm

This is really joyful, what an exciting moment, last year i actually didn't have much maize harvest due to some challenges and couple with the fact that i was not available on ground to give the needed attention to the farm but this year am excited that there will much better yield, both in maize and cassava.
You can see that this very maize is almost ready for harvest and as you can see, it's looking good and will be worth the time, energy and other resources. join me as we explore the farm.

This farm is a combination of few crops, i had to mixed it this way this year, also to test run what i learnt from a friends farm, here in this farm we have maize, cassava, Mellon and cucumber, the cucumber was just a few seed but there was more melon than cucumber, the maize was more than the both of them but cassava is the major crop on the farmland.

As you can see, we have just finish the first weeding process, to give the crops the space to breath well and to grow effectively.
this is the best time to weed for the Mellon crops, if you don't do it now, it will affect the growth of the melon crops and it productivity, if you allow the weed to take over the farmland, it will affect the whole crops.

if you look at the next pictures were we have not yet weeded, you can see, how the weed is competing with the crops, its not healthy for the crops but as soon as we take off the weed, the crops will sing hallelujah chorus, and you will see that in the way the crops will grow.

This other session of the farm was planted ending last year at about November ending, you can see how well it has grown, this species of cassava am told will be due for harvest in eight months so i had to sample this species on one side of the farm to see the yielding capacity so that i can effectively engage it by the coming planting season.

i see that planting cassava by that time is like the best in my view as at now, than waiting for the new year rain which some times will take a long time before the rain will come for the planting season to start., now i know that it will be better to start here early for cassava but for maize, i see that its wisdom to wait till the coming of the rain before or better still you plant it just before the rain start, the question here will be how to know the exactly when rain will come.

This is still part of the family farm, its been an amazing experience this farming year, in a short while i will begin my harvest and i will be glad to carry you along, if you are within my side of the globe, you can stop by the farm anytime any day, we will be glad to have you around, its your friend @emylight, thanks for always having my back.
