Several weeks ago now, I decided I needed a door bell that I could access from my phone, since I have hearing loss, and since my house is rather long, my bedroom where I spend most of my time is at the back end, opposite the front door.
It worked for about 4 days, then I woke up, and I was logged out of the app on my phone.
No explanation.
It has never worked properly since.
After the second call to their support, the lady said she could see that the doorbell was now getting a very weak Wifi signal.
WHY? I didn't change anything!
So she said they would send me a "Chime Pro Wifi Extender" at no charge.
When it came (two days ago) it was very straightforward, until the last step, where it wanted my Chime Pro PIN!
I ain't got no stinking PIN!!! So here I go again, calling them last night.
Turned out that too, was a mistake because of the holiday, the volume was higher and they were short staffed. I was on hold for 45 min.
But I finally got someone, who was almost useless.
It turned out that the PIN, was on THE BACK OF THE DEVICE I NOW HAD PLUGGED IN TO THE WALL OUTLET!!!
So after I got that PIN, the device was already set up and there was NO WAY TO INPUT THE PIN.
Round and round I went last night, uninstalling and reinstalling the App on my phone, and on my PC's.
Finally, I got it where it would
- Ring where you could hear it at the door and at the chime...
but not on my phone!!!
I also could not activate live view from my phone nor my pc's
So today, another HOUR LONG session on their customer support phone line.
This time I got a man I could clearly understand, who clearly understood the product, and together we got things set up so that for now at least, it all seems to be working.
Was it WORTH all this time and emotional stress for me to have an unreliable (so far, maybe that isn't true now) way to HEAR a doorbell and SEE who is at my door all the way to the back of my house?
The jury is still out on that one. Sad to say.
