30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 7 || My Five Favorite Songs

Yanno, I honestly didn't think that this would be as difficult as it was.
It took me two days, and the death of a Rock Star (#RIPEddieVanHalen) to finish my five.

There is too much to say about the way music has shaped my life. It would also be criminal to not point out that when @Denmarkguy and I reconnected in 2003 we realized that there would no longer be "The Music Wars" in our lives. We finally found that person who would not roll their eyes and say, "Oh God, not THAT again" when we popped in a CD.

Number One:

The first song I fell in love with so so so many years ago and had on "repeat" was 99, by Toto. My number has always been 99. It's also a prominent part of my social security number ... among many other weird anomalies in my world. Too much weird even for me. But it's my song.

Number two:

My senior year of high school was amaze balls. I loved every moment of high school, oddly enough, although you couldn't pay me to go back to 17. (Remember that number ... ) There was far too much bickering with the Student Council for our Class Song.
Guess who suggested "Heat of the Moment" at the last moment and led the charge to make it our class song? It had to show in this line-up. "Teenage ambitions you'll remember well ..." Best. Lyric. Ever.

Number Three:

Hello? Edge of Seventeen. Boom. (Told you to remember that number)
Do I really need to say anything about this? Okay. I will.
When my son was 17 I was at an outdoor concert in Ohio with Stevie Nicks headlining about 16 years ago! I called him on my cell and held it up when she began singing this song. I was crying and laughing. I think he was too. I miss that kid ... and his kids.

Number Four:

Solsbury Hill.
Because it's my anthem. It just is. There isn't enough time, or words to tell you the stories about this song. And what it means to me. "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home."

Number Five:

This changed yesterday. I was revisiting VanHalen and cried when I heard "Right Now" and so ... Right now. It brings hope. Thank you, Eddie. There was one helluva concert in heaven last night.
