We all have to work for someone sometime, even if it's for a little while. I have always wanted to be a boss, so as to build the Empire I want and to run away from my past experiences.
I have had a good time working for people but I won't lie some bosses are really something else. I am not surprised that some bosses act the way they do.
If you are my boss I really won't expect anything else. You want to grow your business an hence you sometimes need a firm hand. You will make decisions like; lay off, salary reduction or shutting down. That worst you can ever do is owe your staff.
During my university days, back then in jos, after that COVID-19 pandemic. I decided to go find a job, I got it. It was a work in a cyber cafe. Her pay was good enough at that time so i took the job.
My job description was that I work from Monday to Saturday as both her secretary and computer operator. I agreed because it was the only job I could even get at that time. And I also took it because it was going to increase my little knowledge.
I started the job, and I got paid my first salary; it was at this point I realised that half my salary was spent on transportation. I didn't tell my boss till the second month when she decided to slash my salary.
Haaba I no gree,(pigin). I complained so she gave me back the thing in full and employed more staff.
I as her worker saw no need for another staff, but she said she wanted someone that will be selling somethings outside the shop. It was nice, only that she was not paying them. And one of the lady, A.S ( for privacy) was coming from somewhere farther than my place. But she didn't complain because our boss was once her lecturer.
The second employee was A.D she was also not staying in the area but her place was not that far. I always told them to lay complain to our boss, but they didn't. A.D said i should forget about it, I won't understand. I didn't know why. Time pass and both A.D and A.S quit the job. (A.D and A.S later got married to soldiers... What a funny. Coincidence, one navy the other army).
After they left I worked for another one month, the annoying part this time was that price of fuel went up. So transport fare hiked, and from my salary; my take home was 4k. Everything went into transportation, I told my boss I can't keep it up. The thing was very high and She said okay. Month end reached, I was expecting my salary nan as usual, I no see shishi (pigin). I called and called she didn't pick up. And I didn't even have tp. My last week tp to work was borrowed, the country became very hard the person was on my neck. And she was not picking. It was not funny.
Do you know up to this very day she have not paid. 2020 - 2024. Well i have cut my losses and moved on. But I must confess there is nothing worse than owing salaries. She later picked after some weeks. I begged if she can only just pay me back the tp. I was able to accept I worked for free. But let me get back the money I used for tp. It was a useless effort.
See no matter the height you reach as a boss, no matter how tough, or bossy you get. I won't take that withheld salary again. I go carry you go court. Na crime . You can be an egotistic controlling freak, or a demanding boss, or a narcissist, I no care. Just pay me my salary and we are good (pigin).
Nigeria has already made us adaptors, at this point I even believe sey after all we don experience even if na devil be our boss. We go survive (pigin).
