Let's try this again, shall we?
About this time last year, I set the same goal that I am about to tell you about. Like many of our goals that we set when we are motivated—perhaps by some motivational quote, speaker, or inspiring event—some of them flourish, maybe, and then some just fall by the wayside. This one, dear reader, is one of the many that eventually fell by the wayside.
Being financially knowledgeable had never been my strong suit, ever since I was a kid. I am usually inclined towards instantaneous gratification. Looking long-term always seemed far away. However, growing up and becoming more of an adult over the years have allowed me to see the essence of being financially educated.
Now. Now. This isn't about being financially educated. Not exactly. It is more about coming to the realization that one needs to learn to "put away," because we sure have different seasons and they aren't all rosy. Hence, keeping something aside every now and then could do a lot more than one initially imagined. Savings. Yes. That's what Olujay is talking about today—his plans and how they are going.
Humble Beginnings
I have become more keen on growing my account in the last couple of months. There have been ups and downs all through the year. With more understanding and vigour now, thankfully, I am going again. And, also, forging ahead without despising humble beginnings.
I do not have any immediate need to save up, so my savings are going to be geared towards being an emergency fund for now. And, also, I am putting more effort into building my stake, especially with the opportunity that the price of Hive is really low in these times. So, basically, my savings goal is about HBD Savings and Hive Power.
Something that I have learned this year is the power of walking in groups. I am very much the kind to do things on my own and in my own way, basically like a lone wolf. I understand better now that there is a good impact doing things with people can have on one's progress and growth. It is why I am joining the Saturday Savers Club.
Walking in Flocks
It is always a delight to host the 9JA SHOW in the Hive Naija community on Discord, and in one of the sessions, we had a special guest come around to tell us about something truly exciting, an initiative that had been around for quite some time that people should really know about.
There's a whole community of intentional people working to develop themselves through saving. And from what I have learned so far, there are pretty sweet programmes and methods to help one achieve their financial goals. One of them is the space it provides where likeminded people, you know, grow together.
With @shanibeer enlightenment in the show about Saturday Savers Club, I felt it was something I would like to be a part of, as it piqued my interest. So, dear reader, I am joining the SSC to save my life. Feel me? Yeah...
The Way Forward
Thankfully, I also had @deraaa further increase my interest with her activity and growth so far, as well as her gospel about it. And without further ado, my goals are as follows:
ᴘʀɪᴍᴀʀʏ | ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ | ɢᴏᴀʟ |
---|---|---|
ʜɪᴠᴇ ᴘᴏᴡᴇʀ | 𝟸,𝟺𝟽𝟿.𝟻𝟿𝟸 | 𝟺𝟶𝟶𝟶 |
ʜʙᴅ sᴀᴠɪɴɢs | 𝟷𝟸.𝟶𝟷𝟼 | 𝟼𝟷 |
sᴇᴄᴏɴᴅᴀʀʏ | ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ | ɢᴏᴀʟ |
---|---|---|
ɴᴇᴏxᴀɢ | 𝟼𝟻,𝟺𝟾𝟹.𝟽𝟶𝟿 | 𝟷𝟶𝟶,𝟶𝟶𝟶 |
Since the first day in September, I have been doing two things consistently, and they are powering up 1 HP every day and putting 0.5 HBD into HBD Savings every day as well. It is small, but I consider it better than nothing.
When the end of the year comes, I should have 61 HBD saved and then 122 HP more from the everyday powerups. I hope to earn more HP from making posts and earning on them, especially with the 100% powerup payout option that I have been doing lately and will be doing more of now. The secondary goal is to take my NEOXAG stake all the way to 100,000. It's a native token of the city of Neoxian, and I'd like to really build my stake there.
Hereon, let's see how it all goes. I am positive about it, and I am more encouraged by being a part of the Saturday Savers Club. If you are interested in SSC, you can indulge yourself and peruse this post of theirs here.
