Some moments at Saki West Local Government Secretariat

It was a moment and experience that I can never forget when I was an industrial training student at Saki West Local Government Secretariat general administrative office.
When I resumed work, I took my time to study each individual who was in that office; I wasn't aware that our boss was also watching my actions and how I behaved.

I was amazed on that day when he called my name and told me, "Tofunmi," you are smart and hardworking; I laughed, and I told him to thank you, sir.

This compliment was not limited to my boss alone but to the director of our department, and the head of local government administration. I thank God for this, and I never for once take it for granted.
I continue working with my dear boss with a lot of love and cooperation. This man was so pleased to show and explain to me in detail some administrative work, and all the ethics of administrative work.

This helped me to be more motivated and encouraged my passion for Administrative work.

I am proud to be a Public Administrator!

Gradually, my name begins to circulate all around the building of the Secretariat and I can also move from one office to another. "It is good to be good"

At this moment, my boss began to delegate some work to me and some confidential work, too; this was because of the trust he had in me.
The bond of love that my boss has for me began to be stronger, and he still showed it at work, and off work, too.

At the Secretariat, people already knew about the relationship between my boss and me, and at that time, if he needed money from anyone in the office; I would be the one to collect the money for him.

There's a slang that we usually use to communicate with each other when it comes to money. He would tell me that Tofunmi, go to this person, and he would complete it with ("as per previous discussion or as per" ) I already knew what he meant by that word. I would do as he has sent me to do, and I will come back to deliver the work he sent me.

Something happened one day when I and my boss were to dispatch a letter, and when we got to the police station, the police at the entrance opened the gate and we entered with the local government motorcycle with the name engraved boldly on it.

I was the one who drove the motorcycle; I just went straight to the office we were going to, and when we were coming back, the officer at the entrance stopped us and told us to come down from the motorcycle, and he seized the key of the motorcycle from me I felt remorseful to give it to him.

I felt embarrassed, and I didn't know what to say because my boss was with me; I expected him to say something so that I wouldn't sound rude to him.

I asked the police officer with anger, can't he see the name that was written on the motorcycle?

To my surprise, my boss was shivering and pleading at my bike, and I didn't know what to do again at that moment; I just decided not to say anything again, and that was when he returned the key to me. I collected it and left the place with much anger within me.

My boss was well-known for his character in the entire Secretariat.
At one point, the director of our department requested that I come to his office; I felt very reluctant to change office, but my beggar had no choice but to follow the order given to me by my boss.
I decided not to relent at this point, and I prepared myself to also learn a new thing in that office.
I was able to observe the way they do their work there, and I was able to cope with them.

The love they all had for me was a great love that I didn't for once take for granted. After I had left the Secretariat years back until today, there's no office where I can't enter. I got some things for free, while people paid before they could get them.
This was because of how I relate to them, and how I handle my work with diligence.

It is a very good thing to be of good modesty while working under a boss because it all has a gain at the end.
