Espero que estén pasándola genial, disfrutando del café, de la naturaleza y del regalo más hermoso que tenemos todos, como lo es ¡Estar vivo! En esta oportunidad no me pondré poético o lírico. Solo pretendo expresar un poco de las experiencias que he tenido durante varios días que comencé mi hermosa labor como docente.
Hello again, my dear readers of this friendly HIVE community. I hope you are having a great time, enjoying coffee, nature and the most beautiful gift we all have, Be alive! This time I will not get poetic or lyrical. I only intend to express a little of the experiences I have had during several days since I started my beautiful work as a teacher.
Tengo cinco años trabajando en una prestigiosa institución ubicada en la tierra del Sol Amada, Maracaibo. Trabajo con estudiantes de sexto grado, primero y segundo año de educación media general impartiendo clases en la asignatura de matemáticas. Les confieso que al principio en mi primer año de labor estuve a punto de renunciar, ya que me toco un grupo de estudiantes tremendos con pocos hábitos de trabajo y de estudio.
Tuve el error de educar desde lo académico, llenar la mente de los estudiantes con conocimiento. En gran parte creo que eso es necesario, brindarles las herramientas, trabajar el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico y ayudar a los niños a ser independientes. Descubrí que los padres solo estaban interesados en que sus hijos obtuvieran una buena calificación, olvidando la parte emocional y afectiva entre ellos, por lo que me llevo a comprender las actitudes negativas que muchos niños y adolescentes toman en un aula de clase con sus docentes.
Al finalizar mi primer año escolar en dicha institución, cerrando de forma exitosa los objetivos propuestos para ese entonces, la directiva decide dejarme trabajando de forma permanente. Estaba agradecido por la oportunidad. Sin embargo, algo me preocupaba, ya que sabía que el siguiente año escolar no sería fácil.
Reconocí mis debilidades como docente, la cual todas estas se enfatizan en estudiar y comprender la emocionalidad de los alumnos, como eje central para un aprendizaje significativo.
I have five years working in a prestigious institution located in the land of the beloved sun, Maracaibo. I work with students in sixth grade, first and second year of general secondary education teaching mathematics. I confess that at the beginning of my first year of work I was about to resign, since I had a group of tremendous students with little work and study habits.
I made the mistake of educating from the academic point of view, filling the students' minds with knowledge. To a large extent I think that is necessary, give them the tools, work on the development of critical thinking and help children to be independent. I discovered that parents were only interested in their children getting a good grade, forgetting the emotional and affective part between them, which led me to understand the negative attitudes that many children and adolescents take in a classroom with their teachers.
At the end of my first school year in that institution, successfully closing the objectives proposed for that time, the board decided to leave me working permanently. I was grateful for the opportunity. However, something worried me, since I knew that the following school year would not be easy.
I recognized my weaknesses as a teacher, which all emphasize studying and understanding the emotionality of the students, as a central axis for meaningful learning.
Mi experiencia y satisfacción comenzó a darse conocer. Los estudiantes, los representantes, coordinadores docentes y mis colegas comenzaron a ver un cambio en mí y en los resultados logrados en mis estudiantes en ese periodo de encierro. Sin embargo, sabía que no todo debe quedar allí y la labor docente requiere de aprendizaje constante y evolutivo.
This inspired me spontaneously and voluntarily to train in neuroeducation workshops, neurolinguistic programming, emotional intelligence and brain gymnastics, where I was certified in the Online modality. All this knowledge was like rings around my finger, since during the pandemic stage I was teaching from home from Monday to Friday. Imagine for a moment the mental exhaustion of working six hours a week. Emotionally stimulating the students was a plus to successfully finish that school year.
My experience and satisfaction began to make itself known. Students, representatives, teaching coordinators and my colleagues began to see a change in me and in the results achieved in my students during that period of confinement. However, I knew that not everything should be left there and that teaching requires constant and evolutionary learning.
He observado que los estudiantes de esta nueva generación, llamada generación Alfa por los científicos, es una generación muy tecnológica y enganchada con las redes sociales o información digital. Les encanta hacer todo rápido y resolver todo con el teléfono. Entonces, esto me llevo a desaprender de la educación tradicional y aprender las nuevas plataformas y herramientas educativas de la era digital. Realice talleres en edición de vídeos, cursos en diseño gráfico, plataformas de juegos educativos, herramientas y recursos digitales.
I have observed that the students of this new generation, called generation Alpha by scientists, is a very technological generation and hooked on social networks or digital information. They love to do everything fast and solve everything with their phones. So, this led me to unlearn from traditional education and learn the new platforms and educational tools of the digital era. I did workshops in video editing, courses in graphic design, educational gaming platforms, digital tools and resources.
Todos estos aprendizajes extras curriculares me llevaron a otro nivel como docente porque puedo combinar lo académico, lo emocional y lo tecnológico para hacer de cada clase una experiencia divertida e inolvidable con mis estudiantes.
All this extra curricular learning took me to another level as a teacher because I can combine the academic, the emotional and the technological to make each class a fun and unforgettable experience with my students.
Este nuevo año escolar 2022- 2023 lo hemos llamado “Año de la Renovación, el Entusiasmo y el Buen Trato” he sido promovido recientemente a profesor guía de sexto grado. Esto conlleva a más tiempo, más compromiso y más responsabilidades. Sin omitir ninguna queja porque les confieso que tenía mi cierto confort y esto me saca totalmente. Mi primera tarea como docente guía fue decorar las carteleras de mi salón, una actividad netamente nueva para mi estilo. Asumí varios días de trabajo, me llené de entusiasmo y creatividad para recibir a mis nuevos estudiantes para que tuvieran su salón de clase agradable. Comparto las evidencias con todos ustedes, ya que fue un gran esfuerzo realizado.
This new school year 2022- 2023 we have called "Year of Renewal, Enthusiasm and Good Treatment" I have recently been promoted to sixth grade guidance teacher. This brings with it more time, more commitment and more responsibilities. Without omitting any complaints because I confess that I had my certain comfort and this totally takes me out. My first task as a teacher-guide was to decorate the bulletin boards in my classroom, an activity that was entirely new to my style. I took on several days of work, filled with enthusiasm and creativity to welcome my new students so that they would have a pleasant classroom. I share the evidence with all of you, as it was a great effort.
In conclusion, despite having more work, I feel very happy because enthusiasm, creativity and my passion for educating with the pedagogy of love, full of positive and humanistic values, have made me a significant renewal in my life, from the emotional to the material.
My call is for all those educators, mothers and fathers who never tire of sowing, of teaching, of giving courage, with joy and passion, because we come to this world with purposes and dreams, we have come to serve and to gladden hearts.
