Esta semana ha sido bastante fuerte porque entramos en la etapa en la que sus valores bajan y amerita transfusiones diarias.

Buena parte de los días transcurren en constante monitoreo de su signos vitales ya que los vómitos y los dolores de cabeza la han debilitado considerablemente.

Algunos de los medicamentos que recientemente hemos tenido que comprar.

No obstante, Manuela Valentina tiene sus momentos de alivio en los que vuelve a reír y a conversar con su habitual vivacidad.

No sabemos cuantas transfusiones Manuela va a necesitar. Todo dependerá de como su cuerpo reaccione al tratamiento y de que los valores de plaquetas y hemoglobina se mantengan en los rangos aceptables.

El problema radica en las complicaciones derivadas de los mecanismos de recolección de donaciones de sangre y la capacidad de los bancos de sangre para procesar muestras y mantener reservas que garanticen la aplicación de transfusiones a tiempo.

Ayer, asistí al banco municipal de sangre para reservar un puesto en la lista de donantes para Manuela y a pesar de haber llegado a las 5 am, ya había un número de personas delante que superaba el límite diario (30-40 donantes).

Esta situación nos obligó a tramitar plaquetas y plasma a través de otras instituciones para garantizar las transfusiones de ayer .

Hoy me fui al banco de sangre mucho más temprano y me aseguré de que los donantes para Manuela podrán ser atendidos y garantizar así las reservas de sangre o derivados sanguíneos que ella pudiera necesitar.

There have been many creative ways in which you have supported us and that fills us with hope and optimism. We continue to fight alongside our beloved @manujune.

This week has been quite tough because we are entering the stage where her blood values drop and she needs daily transfusions.

A good part of the days are spent in constant monitoring of her vital signs as the vomiting and headaches have weakened her considerably.

Nevertheless, Manuela Valentina has her moments of relief when she laughs again and chats with her usual vivacity.

We don't know how many transfusions Manuela will need. Everything will depend on how her body continues to react to the treatment and on the platelet and hemoglobin values in acceptable ranges.

The problem lies in the complications arising from the collection mechanisms for blood donations and the capacity of the blood banks to process samples and maintain reserves to guarantee timely transfusions.

Yesterday, I attended the municipal blood bank to reserve a spot on the donor list for Manuela and despite arriving at 5 am, there were already a number of people in front of me that exceeded the daily limit (30-40 donors).

This situation forced us to process platelets and plasma through other institutions to guarantee yesterday's transfusions.

Today I went to the blood bank much earlier and made sure that Manuela's blood will be be among the daily 40 and thus guarantee the reserves of blood or blood derivatives that she might need.
