Joseph; seeking to unveil his true identity before his brethren told them of what he perceived as God’s primary purpose for getting him into Egypt. He told them in the seventh verse of Genesis 45:5 that “God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance”. There is nothing like getting to know God’s purpose for the opportunities and openings He allows for us in life.
Many misuse divine openings and opportunities as a result of ignorance. They enter in and live carelessly to satisfy the lustful and selfish inclinations of their hearts. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 8:18 – “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day”.
Whatever privilege you seem to be having right now; you will need to learn to live cautiously, because it is not all about you. “A man can receive nothing, except it be given from heaven” John 3:27. There is the divine perspective of whatever heaven release unto you and wherever God in His mercies positions you. You must not seek to hijack it to do your own, but stay inclined to God’s purpose for your life and ensure you don’t constitute yourself a disappointment to heaven.

There are things that really don’t come by chance, but by divine ordering. When they come, be careful enough to know what God is up to; because, for everything under heaven there is a purpose. Joseph as a governor in Egypt must have been wondering – “Why me? What is all this about?” Immediately he sighted his brothers come all the way into Egypt to buy corn; it was like saying – “Eureka – I have found it!” That you locate the joy of discovering purpose and live by it is my sincerest prayer.
Wherever you find yourself today; you are there as a life saver – a beacon of light. You are there to preserve divine goods in the lives of men and to enhance their eternal wellbeing. You are there as God’s ambassador to show to men that it is possible to stay upright. In a world with all manner of perversions and men asking – “who then can be saved?”, God wants to showcase you as a living proof that holy living is not a myth but a reality.
