Visiting my birthplace and meeting my childhood friend.

When I was five years old I left my birthplace already and grew up where I live now.

It's been eighteen years ago when I last visited the place where I was born. And every time I visit the place memories bring back to my childhood days.

A wonderful day to everyone it's @chimegipamus once again sharing with you my beautiful experience last May. Early in the morning together with my mom, we traveled to Basay Negros Oriental where I was born.

It was a whole day trip from Naga. We ride a Ceres bus going to Liloan port Santander, travel by boat for twenty minutes to reach Sibulan, by multi-cab going to Dumaguete, by bus to Bayawan, and by jeepney or tricycle to Basay.

We arrived in Basay by 5 pm and took a short rest. We stayed at my uncle's house my father's brother's. By the time we arrive at their house, I have met my ninang for the first time. I never knew her since I was still five when we left the place. I was so glad to meet her since I never experienced having ninang growing up.

Then we decided to eat out, but first, we will visit some relatives. We went house to house and they welcomed us gladly with teary eyes. They love my mom so much and of course me too, they always remember me running into the beach wearing only panties 🤣 and crying a lot if I cannot see Mom 🤣.

After the meet-ups with some relatives, we went to Bacolod Chicken restaurant to eat dinner. I never expected to have a restaurant in the place. Basay is a secluded place in the south of Negros Oriental. It is the last town and the next town belongs to Occidental. It has mining company before and the place of the mining is where I was born.

Until now life in Basay has not been as productive as in another town maybe because there are a lot of NPA here but now only a few remain on the mountain. I'm so happy to see that it is progressing, they already have al-Fresco restaurants, some resorts, and some tourist spots. It is rich in seafood. Most of the towns get their seafood product here.

Its coral reefs connect to Tubataha reefs in Palawan, and its seas in Mindanao seas specifically Dipolog. They celebrate their fish season during March and have a Pacao festival which means a school of fish reaches the town.

Their plaza had a big statue of fish and a giant Octopus, this is because this kind of seafood is rich in the place. The place is still uncrowded yet they have street foods already in their plaza.

The next day we try to find fresh seafood to make our own dried fish. We will go to the fish port to find out if there were newly arrived fishing boats. On our way we passed by my nanny's house during my childhood, good thing her daughter was outside and recognized my mom.

She is one of my playmates before. We went inside their house and found out that my nanny had a stroke a year ago and cannot speak anymore. As she saw me she cried and embraced me and my mom. After a long talk, she told us not to go home yet for his grandson was out in the sea catching fish.

On our way home we met a lady selling her fish and crabs, so fresh so we bought it at a cheaper price and went home. We stayed for three days because I had some important documents to process. But I had an accident and my knees were affected so I cannot take more pictures of the sea where I used to run.

I used to run, bathe, and play in the sand and sea with my playmates while my father was catching fish for our daily viand. The place is so peaceful that children have more time to play outside than playing cellphone. And people always eat fish and seafood, a very healthy meal.

It was been a wonderful experience coming home and meeting people who had once been part of my life, a life filled with wonderful and unforgettable memories to cherish as I went back home to Naga.
