Today was a cherished day spent with my family, made even more special by the return of my aunt May from Australia. Eager to reconnect, we decided to start our Sunday by attending the 3 PM mass at the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Minglanilla.⛪️
Our preparations began early in the afternoon. Following my usual routine, I made sure to get ready promptly. By 2:40 PM, we were all set and headed out.
The short tricycle ride to the church filled me with happiness it had been a while since we attended mass together. Normally, due to varying schedules, we would often go individually, sometimes with friends or cousins.
Arriving just in time, we entered the church and found seats together. Throughout the mass, I listened intently to the priest’s sermon, reflecting on its meaning and offering sincere prayers. By the end of the service, a sense of peace and gratitude filled my heart, reaffirming my faith and bringing our family closer together.
After the mass, we planned to treat ourselves to a delightful meal at Manila Foodshoppe in Robinsons Supermarket Tabunok, a place my grandmother holds dear. Originally planning to take a mini-bus, we were pleasantly surprised when my aunt Nel called to say they would pick us up in their car instead. The car ride was filled with lively conversations and shared laughter, making the journey to Robinsons even more enjoyable.☺️
Upon arrival, we encountered a small problem because the parking lot was full. My aunt Nel and her boyfriend volunteered to find a parking spot while we ventured inside Robinsons.
So we headed inside first and went to my grandma’s favorite restaurant. We got inside and had a seat. My aunt May decided that we should order foods already so that when they arrived, they'd be ready. My aunt May and grandma are the ones who decided what foods to order since they are the ones who have already tried some of the foods in the restaurant.
They finished choosing foods to order, and still, my other aunt is not yet there, so we had a few small talks first, and a few minutes later, they had already arrived. While waiting for the foods to be served as usual, we talked about a lot of things and teased each other. I was starving at that time, but the foods were not yet there, so we waited patiently.
When the foods are already served, we pray first and eat. Here are some of the foods that we order: buttered chicken and regular;🍗 pancit bihon;🍜 pork steak;🥓 chop suey;🥗 special fried rice;🍚 lumpia;🌯 and of course, the drinks we have: lemonade and calamansi juice.🍸
The meal was a feast for both stomach and soul, satisfying my appetite completely. Each dish was bursting with flavor, a testament to Manila Foodshoppe's reputation for delicious Filipino cuisine. I couldn’t help but recommend it to anyone visiting Robinsons.
After our meal, we took a short rest, allowing time for our food to settle before continuing our day. Unable to finish all the food, we decided to pack the leftovers and then proceeded to Watsons to buy something.
As we strolled through the aisles, my aunt May and my grandmother took the opportunity to purchase some essentials, while my brother and I explored the latest skincare products and personal care items.
To cap off our day, we bought in a treat from Potato Corner, purchasing a mega-sized fries with cheese and sour cream flavors.🍟 As we savored our fries, my aunt May and my grandmother completed their shopping, ensuring we had everything we needed before heading home.
Reflecting on the day as we drove back, I felt very grateful for the time spent together. From attending mass as a family to sharing a delicious meal and enjoying simple pleasures like shopping and snacking, every moment was a testament to the joy and love that family brings.👩🏻❤️👨🏻
Today was more than just a day out it was a celebration of our bond, reminding us of the importance of family unity and togetherness. These memories will forever hold a special place in my heart, reinforcing the value of moments spent with loved ones.💗
As the sun set on our day, I couldn’t help but feel blessed to have such loving and caring family members. I look forward to many more days like these, filled with laughter, love, and shared experiences that strengthen our family ties.🫶🏻
