🦉 The western yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava)
- Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail - only in ornithology, erroneous established name)
- flava flavus (lat.) yellow, gold, golden yellow
These birds live in open spaces such as meadows or fields, as well as near the coastal zone if there are many bushes growing there. With the arrival of spring, in early May, I go to visit them outside the city.
Due to the fact that at this time there is still no tall grass there and, in principle, everything is just beginning to grow, these bright birds are clearly visible against a monochromatic background.
The male is bright yellow, and the female is of faded shades, she is in the third photo.
