Wood sandpipers in the shallow water

Wading birds like the wood sandpiper are one of my favorite birds since it is possible to get pretty close to them for a picture. At Lake Neusiedler there is a great spot to find wood sandpipers in the shallow water. I also saw them at a place near Wels and I took several pictures of them there. It is a wader that is still there in bigger numbers but you always need to find the perfect habitat and good spots where you can find this wading bird.

I like watching them when they wade through the shallow water and pick for insects every now and then. But sometimes they look really busy and are pretty fast in wading through the water. In these cases you also need to be fast enough with you camera, but still the best option to take some nice pictures of this bird is waiting by lying on the flat ground and let the birds come closer to you and often they do.
