Owls - Silent Hunters of the Night

Owls are one of the birds species I like more than some others, because they have a very interesting behavior, and they look hilarious with their eyes. They are difficult to spot because most of the time they are sleeping or resting up in the trees during daytime, and they usually hunt in the nighttime. They prefer high trees where they are protected against predators like the fox or the marten. Patrick a friend of mine who works as a treeworker here in Austria found some of the sleeping trees of the owls and invited us to join him in taking some pictures of them. I was happy for this opportunity.

It was a place a little outside located of Vienna and I remember that we stayed there till sunset and afterwards ate at a very good local restaurant. I really like the food that the "Heurigen" provide here in Vienna and Lower Austria. This is of course also another reason why I like to visit this part of Austria, and I am already lookikng forward to next years trips there. Now during winter I probably visit some places near Linz and in Upper Austria but you never know what will come up to my mind.
