My First Love: A Tale of Heartbreak

Picture of Helen and I back then.
In my first year at university, I met Helen, a stunning girl with a charming personality. Our relationship began smoothly; she was incredibly caring and affectionate. We graduated, and plans for marriage seemed promising. However, financial constraints loomed large as I struggled to secure a job and afford her bride price in a country with a high unemployment rate.
After university, Helen moved in with me near campus. Despite our struggles, we managed to make ends meet. Pressure from her family to marry increased, as she was their only daughter and they desired grandchildren. Unknown to me, Helen had a secondary school boyfriend from her village who had promised to marry her soon.
I eventually found a small job and saved enough to help Helen start a mini food business. As her business grew, her frequent weekend trips to her village, allegedly to visit her parents, became suspicious. One Thursday, she claimed there was an emergency at home and left after selling her perishable goods. On Saturday evening, while browsing Facebook, I stumbled upon her wedding photos. Shocked and heartbroken, I tried calling her, but she had blacklisted my number. Overwhelmed by pain, I fainted and was rushed to the hospital by my neighbors.Upon returning home after being discharged, I discovered Helen had taken my savings box, leaving me penniless. Devastated, I realized she had exploited my love and trust, rendering me emotionally and financially broken. This experience taught me harsh lessons about trust and the unpredictability of love.
As the years passed by, I began to heal, yet I found it difficult to fall in love again. But, as fate would have it, after two years, I met a sweet and naturally endowed girl named Favour.

She healed my pain and brought joy back into my life. It's ironic to note that after four years of marriage, Helen hasn't been able to conceive a child. She has been calling me, asking for forgiveness. According to her, she went to a church, and the pastor told her that she had offended a young, innocent boy. He advised her to seek forgiveness before she could bear a child of her own.Fortunately, I had already forgiven her years ago and held no grudges against her. I understood that she had merely taught me a valuable lesson about being careful in relationships. Thanks to Favour, who came into my life and took away my pains. I am now happily married to Favour, and we have a bouncing baby boy together.
