Gratitude: Rescued by Grace

I used to hear kidnapping stories and also watch this in movies only for it to happen in my family. I am still trying hard to heal from the whole emotional trauma, same with my siblings. My strength failed me! I totally lack the words to express myself over the shocking experience I had with my family since the last two days.

It's been a sad feeling for everyone of us, but I'm glad that my mom has been rescued and she is fine. Personally, I saw the situation as a helpless one when every attempt we made to hear from my mom proved abortive.

Mom

To think that mom will die such a painful death after suffering to raise my siblings and me all alone after the death of our dad a long time ago was so devastating. Many things have been going wrong in my country, and it's been worse lately since the hardship has reached the climax. Young guys and adults are soiling their hands just to make a living. It's that bad. The security state of my country has been suffering from epilepsy. It's nothing to write home about, and that's why when you listen to news, it's from one tragedy to another.

Sadly, this tragedy visited my home, but mercy said no! My mom was on a journey from the east to the northern part of my country to visit my elder brother, whose wife gave birth after many years of looking for the fruit of the womb. Along the way, the vehicle she boarded developed a fault, and they packed by the roadside to fix it. Suddenly, a group of kidnappers emerged from nowhere and attacked them. Dragged all the passengers in the bush and first extorted all they had. If you live in Nigeria, you will agree with me that kidnappers and evil men in the north believe that the number of people they killed on earth is what will make them go to heaven. That's their mentality. So in this situation, money is not totally the case when you enter their hands. It's a matter of life and death. What my mom went through in the kidnappers hands before the soldiers got alerted and rushed in for rescue was quite emotional. I was crying hearing her narrate her experience prior to her rescue. But in everything, I am grateful that she was rescued alive. Sadly, the soldiers were not able to rescue all the people involved in the attack. Before we got in touch with my mom was later in the day yesterday. It was a long story, which I am not ready to bore you with.

The whole thing was so scary—kidnappings happen all over the world, but they're more frequent here in my country. The annoying part of it is that these evil people mostly don't get caught. It's sad! So much needs to change here for the sake of people's precious lives. I pray and hope that this change will happen someday, and of course it's possible only if our government is interested in the change.

Overall, it was a frightening experience, especially for my mom, and I hope she gets over the emotional trauma soon. The whole of my family is overwhelmed but overjoyed and grateful that our mom was rescued at last!

The image is mine.
