Barcelona won a landslide victory over Ferencvaros in their inaugural match in the 2020/21 Champions League. They won 5-1 despite closing the match with 10 men after Gerard Pique was sent off. Barcelona vs Ferencvaros match on matchday 1 in Group G of the Champions League at Camp Nou, was one-sided. The hosts appeared so dominant with possession of the ball reaching 62% and firing 22 shots throughout the match.

In the first half, Barcelona was 2-0 up thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati. Philippe Coutinho then added Barcelona's lead at the start of the second half.
Ferencvaros had time to reduce the gap through the execution of Ihor Kharatin's penalty in the 68th minute. The penalty came from Gerard Pique's violation which also resulted in a red card for the Barcelona defender. Despite completing the remaining matches with 10 people, Barcelona were still able to add goals. Pedri and Ousmane Dembele scored in the last 10 minutes of the match to seal the Blaugrana's win.
With this result, Barcelona temporarily leads the Group G standings with three points. They excel on goal difference over Juventus, who a few hours earlier won 2-0 against Dynamo Kiev.

However, Denes Dibusz was still able to ward off the ball. Ferencvaros had threatened Barcelona's goal in the 20th minute. Isael, who ran into the Barcelona penalty box, received the ball from Tokmac Nguen. Isael then fired a shot from a corner but the ball just hit the crossbar. Free kick for Barcelona on the right. Messi handed the ball to Philippe Coutinho who then fired the first time. Courtois' effort went wide of the net.

Ferencvaros counterattacked in the 60th minute. Nguen managed to get into the Barcelona penalty box even though it went wide to the right. He then handed the ball to Isael who was in front of the penalty box. However, Isael's kick still bounced over the crossbar

Counterattack becomes Ferencvaros' weapon. This time the visitors' counter-attack in the 68th minute resulted in a penalty and a red card for Gerard Pique. The Barcelona defender brought down Nguen as the Ferencvaros forward was about to open fire in the penalty area.
Ihor Kharatin stepped forward as the executor of the penalty. He tricked Neto into bringing Ferencvaros to close the gap.

Kharatin's goal made Ferencvaros more eager to attack. Ferencvaros had threatened Barcelona's goal in the 75th minute. Somalia passes the ball to Mak who is on the left side of the penalty box and he fires a shot from the corner. However, the ball only hits the outer side of the goal net.

Barcelona expanded the advantage in the 82nd minute. From the counterattack, Ousmane Dembele who moves on the right side dribbles into the penalty box. He then released the bait which was completed by Pedri.
Barcelona further made Ferencvaros sink in the 89th minute. Messi brings the ball in the penalty box and can be closely guarded by Ferencvaros players. However, he was still able to release the bait which Dembele then finished to become a goal.

In injury time, Barcelona almost added a goal. Messi takes a free kick and the ball kicks over the Ferencvaros' posse. Dibusz can still drive the ball towards the top corner of the goal.
