What to expect on Sunday Race - Formula 1 Brazil GP Sprint Race

Source

This is probably the few times the Sprint is really worth watching, today in less than two hours starts the Formula 1 Brazil Grand Prix, this is a Sprint weekend where there is Quali on Friday and Sprint on Saturday but as many has mention before including the current F1 World Champion Max Verstappen who seems to be a more traditional man who does not like Sprint Race neither, the most common popular opinion is that it spoils the Sunday race instead of bringing more show to the viewers it tells everyone what is going to happen BUT this weekend I have to give credit to the Sprint Race since part of it serve as a redo of Friday Quali, because of the very bad weather on Friday Q3 the most important part of Quali had to be stop and some drivers were not able to finish properly or at least they didn't have the same opportunity as the rest, all cars can't go out at the same time and do a fast lap but those who were cleaver enough basically front run the rest and put a good banker lap that was the case of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Charles Leclecr (Ferrari).

I recently found this account on Twitter, @f1telemetrydata, the info and graphs on that account are awesome. The Sprint Quali and Race was not in favor of Mercedes or Ferrari and totally different of what happen on Friday its very sad but Aston Martin was no where to be found, Fernando could not perform at his best because Occon almost destroy the left side of his car but still. This weekend when it comes to Speed and Race Pace, thats the part that I usually don't want to know before Sunday, Race Pace, that is exactly what Sprint spoils, still it was Lando Norris and The Red Bulls.

On the Sprint starting first was probably not the best spot, this happens on many tracks when the second place can take advantage of slipstream and on top gets the inside of the first turn, on the graph above we can see how Verstappen is faster basically on straights and Norris has the advantage on the slow sectors of the track but that speed of the Red Bull starts to create a snow ball effect specially with a driver as good as Verstappen who doesn't make mistakes that often, on the other hand Norris has to do all the hard job been perfect on the slow sectors to squeeze the potential of the McLaren and this is usually when the car complains the most to take the corners, tires need to hold and then be gentle with the throttle so the back end of the car stays smooth and starts to put down all the power down in to the straight line, it is going to be very complicate for Norris to keep the pace during race to get Verstappen putting him against the next Red Bull of Checo Perez who had a good Sprint race, his pace was there and for sure their battle for second is going to be awesome once they get close to each other, Sprint also show drivers that over taking on the main pits straight is not worth it but because the next DRS zone goes against you.

RED BULL FORMULA 1 TAKE OVER

Formula 1 is all about money, don't get me wrong but is the truth, recently we have seen many changes going on at Alphatauri, they brought in Daniel Ricciardo who most people though the was done, Yuki has improve a lot and many don't give the guy credit but he is a great driver, it has been said that next year the team is getting the RB19 with improvements, I think that even a year latter the RB19 will still be a menace on the Grid and I my conspiracy theory that Red Bull has started to spill the beans on Alphatauri.

Daniel Ricciardo had a great race at Mexico out qualifying Checo Perez and many started the speculation that Checo was done at Red Bull but I don't think that's the case, what I really think it's going on is that Red Bull wants to take over Formula 1, they already dominate the front row with Verstappen, Checo meeehh when he as a good day he is there with Verstappen but after what he did on Mexico GP I think the team may be told him to lower his head and be obedient. On the picture above we see Yuki overtaking Hamilton who is not having a great weekend so far but the most important part of that photo is that the two Ferrari were behind them, we will see the Alphatauri on 2024 as Racing Bulls since they wont have one main sponsor, they brought in many and I think the reason for that is because Alphatauri is still Red Bull money, its better to take others money to invest in the project there for everything that comes in is profit, when this plan start to work out Red Bull will be dominating the mid field with their second team Racing Bulls and the top with Red Bull.

The Sprint was very uneventful, weather was great and there were no safety cars but during Sprint Quali there was some drama and the funny part is that it was Occon and Alonso involve in a crash, ex Alpine Partners, Occon keeps telling lies to himself that he did not crash into Alonso left side of the car but when you watch the replace from Occon upper car camera you can see how he loose the car for a quick second, don't know if it was turbulence or something on the track but he had to correct the front end of the car before going into Alnso, but the part that makes this probably both guilty is that Alonso did turn to his left after Occon lost the car making him partner in crime, even though Occon destroy a good part of his car both were able to get repair and will be racing today, Alonso didn't had a good Sprint Race but did Quali 4th for today so its a grey area where the Aston Martin are at the moment, I have no hopes after the Sprint that they could end on the top five but Alonso is one of my favorite drivers so fingers cross.
