Conference Leagua Final

West Ham beat Fiorentine 2-1 to become the Eorpean Conference League champion in a game held in Prague, The Czech Republic. I watched the game and disagree with some journalists as well as the comments they get, deriding the game as very low quality. In reality the game was exactly as I expected from two teams not exactly used to these instances, nerves, grit, courage and a palpable desire to win the trophy, not only for the trophy itself but also to secure a place in Europe for next year.

Fiorentina certainly had ball control for good parts of the game, but I think both teams had about the same chances. The three goals were obviously defensive mistakes, especially both given away by Fiorentina, a remarkably unnecessary handball for West Ham's first goal, and a consistent effort on their part to play the offside game for the second West Ham goal. Fiorentina's goal was not as notorious as these two, but it still showed a lot of conformism from West Ham's defense.

A very rough game it was plus I do believe the referee let the players, from both sides, go too far with some violent tackles. Plus I believe he didn't give a penalty each to the teams. I think I will never understand the hand rule. But actually, as his mistakes were about equal for each side they had no influence on the final score.

I think either side would have been good champions, it just happened to be West Ham's turn, after 43 years without ant titles. So congratulations to West Ham fans. As for Fiorentina, they have nothing to be ashamed of, they tried their best, it just wasn't their night.
