How freaking refreshing man!!! Took them long enough but the Phillies put together a very solid win yesterday afternoon in Seattle. Zack Wheeler came in and threw a CLUTCH gem. He went nine CLEAN innings allowing ZERO runs and had NINE strikeouts. Just in control the entire time, flawless.
The bats came alive in a more than sufficient way as well. Six runs is a solid number any day, but man it felt as though they put up eight plus runs the way they were hitting. Scwharber, Harper, Bohm and Stott all homered.
The eighth inning was particularly magical. Stott of all people homered first and then Harper and Bohm followed his lead! If I remember correctly, in a matter of three pitches the Harper, Bohm, homered and then Marsh singled. Crazy. Then Marsh stole a base, and J.T. sent him home with a hit of his own. 1-0 entering the eight and the Phils just spazzed and destroyed all hope for the Mariners. Really beautiful stuff.
Jose Ruiz then came in and earned himself a save.
Harper and Stott are coming out of their slumps a bit, Schwarber had a BIG day as well.
Love to see it! Hopefully the Phillies can use this momentum as we near the final stretch of the season.
This was a nice, fairly dominant win. Good vibes, GO PHILS.
