Clemson, South Carolina. Where Andrew was a Tiger for three seasons. I didn't know Clemson was actually a city and I didn't know it was in South Carolina! Interestingly, Clemson is really far west in the state.
Andrew Booth Jr. is a cornerback that just seems to do everything in a crisp, clean way. That was clear off the bat as I watched some clips. He seems well trained. On tape, I could see him make several different tackles that looked eerily identical to each other. Over and over again. That tells me he works hard and is fundamentally sound.
Booth Jr. matches these traits with pretty freakish athleticism AND great size for the position.
My jaw dropped when I saw this play. This is one of Booth's better plays, but honestly it seems Booth made a habit of making amazing pass breakups and picks throughout his career. This was no fluke.
Andrew Booth feels like what would happen if A.J. Brown played cornerback. Booth will be as strong, if not stronger, than a lot of receivers in the league and that's a type of corner I'd want on my defense.
Booth seems good in both pass coverage and at helping tackle in the run game. For a corner to be truly elite, they have to be able and willing to tackle, not just cover. He is really like an extra safety out there, just big and high flying and just a sure tackler. I hate to throw an elite player's name out there, but Booth reminds me a lot of Jalen Ramsey.
If you love defense, you'll LOVE Andrew Booth Jr.'s highlight tape. Just a treat, what a talent.
Andrew Booth Jr. is basically, as I said, a freakish athlete, quite big for his position, and fundamentally sound. He plays fast and physical. Seems to love football. He played for an elite college program at Clemson. Booth just checks all the boxes. I mean I am a really big fan, and I simply don't see any glaring unfixable weakness whatsoever with Booth. Whoever drafts this guy, made the right choice.
Booth will turn twenty-two about three weeks into this season, and honestly that is a SCARY thought. If Booth can build on his already sharp game, and fine tune his weaknesses I believe Booth could be an NFL star.
I think it was smart for Booth to enter the draft after his Junior year. His game looks polished and ready for the next level. There's not much else for him to prove in college.
I have a gut feeling Booth Jr. will be a Pro Bowler or perhaps more...
