Last summer on my hiking trip to the Grossglockner I was able to take some pictures of the common blue butterfly mating on a blade of grass. I can still remember that we visited an alpine moor in the Alps and we found these mating couple there sitting on the blade of grass. Since they take quite a time to mate, it is easy to position yourself with your camera and take some pictures but since I don't want to disturb them and there are often other blades of grass in the way it could be easier to get the right angle and spot for a picture, and you have to be especially carefull not to move one of the grass blades where they are sitting on.

I find it very intersting how many different species of butterflies, insects and other small animals you can find up there in the mountains. When the weather is warm and sunny you have a greate chance to find several insects looking for a warm spot in the sun. Whenever I have my Macro lens with me and find some interesting insect like these butterflies, than I try to take some pictures of them. But I have to admit that I still need some more training in Macro photography.
