Aceh Special Cuisine: Kanji Rumbi in the Istiqamah mosque As a breaking fast menu

Kanji Rumbi cuisine is a tradition carried out by the Acehnese people in general. including in Lampoh krueng village, Sigli city district, Pidie district. Aceh Province, Indonesia.

Kanji Rumbi at the Istiqamah Mosque is cooked almost every year by the mosque management as a tradition that is carried out every month when Ramadan arrives. Tgk Tarmizi sabi as a cook with other administrators who help cook kanji rumbi as an iftar menu to be distributed to residents. This tradition is very popular with residents from year to year. Everyone supports him. Said Tgk Tarmizi as the cook as well as the high priest at the lampoh krueng sigli village mosque.
The villagers were very enthusiastic about taking the rumbi flour, it was seen that several residents were waiting for their turn to cook the rumbi flour which was put into their respective containers.

After the Dhuhur prayer, Tgk tarmizi sabi and other colleagues were busy preparing various spices. A large cauldron was also prepared along with the firewood.

Tgk Tarmizi sabi, said the main ingredient is good quality rice. The rice is cooked until it becomes porridge, then vegetables and ground spices are added along with the main ingredients. There are potatoes, carrots, turmeric, ginger, onions, soup leaves, coconut milk, pandan leaves, lemongrass, pandan leaves, and so on. said Mr. Tarmizi Sabi.

It takes two hours to make the Rumbi kanji dish ready to serve. Tgk Tarmizi sabi stirred it alternately with the other administrators. There is also a horrendous Asr prayer congregation. Tgk Tarmizi sabi said, after the Asr prayer, kanji rumbi was ready to be distributed to residents for free.

Residents came with containers to take starch as provisions for breaking their fast at home, after previously holding 2 buckets for residents who break their fast at the mosque.
This starchy food when eaten will make the body fresh. because of its efficacious properties for people affected by colds and stomach ulcers. For example, the ingredients contained in spices are known to be very effective for health. such as lemongrass, ginger, and turmeric. and When they were about to break their fast, Tgk Tarmizi provided Kanji Rumbi as the saint of breaking the fast in the mosque which was filled with porridge into a glass to be served as iftar for the residents. If there is leftover, it will be eaten by the administrators and other worshipers after the tarawih prayer at the mosque.
Tgk Tarmizi sabi said that cooking kanji Rumbi had been going on for a very long time since he was first in this village. because there is an agreement between one citizen and another. so this tradition continues to this day. As for the special funds for serving this kanji rumbi, said tgk tarmizi sabi, it came from the community itself because there was a mutual agreement.
Many people raise funds so that every Ramadan comes Kanji Rumbi cuisine is always there and Tgk Tarmizi sabi at that time also said that the people of Lampoh Krueng village were very enthusiastic in maintaining the tradition from the past until now.
