October 6th,1014, (Slayer of the Bulgers):
The Byzantine Emperor Basil II from the Macedonian dynasty who reigned from 10 January 976 to 15 December 1025, also known as Basil the Porphyrogenitus or Basil the young; earns the title "Slayer of Bulgers" after he orders the blinding of 15,000 Bulgerian troops.
October 6th, 1536 (William Tyndale is killed)
William Tyndale, an English scholar who was a leading figure in Protestant reform, known for his work of translating the New Testament from Hebrew to English language, was strangled and burned at the stake for heresy at Vilvorde, France, on this day.
October 6th, 1696
Savoy Germany withdraws from the Grand Alliance. The Grand Alliance made up of Austria and the Holy Roman Empire, the Dutch Republic, Spain, England and Savoy Germany waged a Nine Years' War (1688–97) – often called the War of the Grand Alliance or the War of the League of Augsburg against Louis XIV of France. And Savoy Germany pulled out of the war on this day.

The Reno brothers--Frank, John, Simeon and William--commit the country's first train robbery near Seymore, Indiana and made away with $10,000.
October 6th, 1917 (Battle of Passchendaele):
Canadian troops succeed in capturing the village of Passchendaele in the Third Battle of Ypres, after a casualty of 250,000 fighters on both sides.
