Hic! Up? Hicough? Hiccup and home remedy.

As per Wiki,

The hiccup is an involuntary action involving a reflex arc. Once triggered, the reflex causes a strong contraction of the diaphragm followed about 0.25 second later by closure of the vocal cords, which results in the classic "hic" sound. Hiccups may occur individually, or they may occur in bouts.

There are several common causes of it like eating quickly, overeating, and drinking too much. If it has pain along with it or unusual feeling, the cause may be somehow more serious that needs medical attention but rarely happen.

Here is a list of common home remedies:
• Drink a glass of water. It seems this is the most common.

• Headstanding. Does it really work?

• Being frightened by someone. Is it frightening that someone would frighten you, right?

• Breathing into a paper bag. I haven't tried this.

• Bite on a fruit like lemon. I haven't tried this either.

• Drink from the far side of a glass. This needs to bend forward. I don't think I will try it.

• Use smelling salts. I never thought about this.

When I was a kid, as per advised by grown-ups if I have hiccup, I need to drink a glass of water. However, there were instances that a glass of water was not available. Good thing, later on, I found out that you may simply hold your breath for 6 minutes, 27 seconds, and 8 milliseconds. So, that's 00:06:27:08. Just kidding! I just hold my breath as long as I can. Most of the time it will just take a few seconds and then the hiccup will be gone.
Yes, simply hold your breath and it works! Again, most of the time.
