Drinking water is so important. We supply water to our body in order to restore or maintain a balance fluid There are so many ways we can do to keep ourselves hydrated.
Here are just a few things to keep our body hydrated.
Each time you reach for a beverage other than water, ask yourself if the water would do the trick, instead. You will be surprised by the number of times you're really just trying to quench your thirst.
Alcohol dehydrates you, so you should limit the amount of alcohol you consume. ( You will be actively limiting the amount of alcohol during our the previous Phase, but it's okay, it doesn't hurt to start early.)
Caffeine is a strong diuretic. You should limit the amount of caffeine you consume. For example, if you drink tea or iced tea, try herbal tea.
Purchase one of the many types of water filters for your home.. FIltering tap water not only improves the taste of the water but also takes out any impurities and is less costly than purchasing bottled water.
Make water available for you at any times. Carry a bottle of water around with you. Keeping water constantly with you will cost you to drink more of it. You will reach your daily requirement, one sip at a time!
Beware that if you are trying to kick the smoking habit or limit your alcohol consumption, being fully hydrated has been shown to help these two worth efforts tremendously!
Your Self-Watering Instructions
In our Phase 1, you will be drinking a minimum of 5 eight-ounce glasses of water each day. In Phase 2, when you begin to become more active, your water requirement will be a minimum of 7 eight=ounce glasses of water each day. In Phase 3, you will be exercising more and getting fitter, and you will need a minimum of 8 eight-ounce glasses of water each day. Finally, in Phase 4, you will be exercising more and at a higher level; therefore you have to drink a minimum of 9 eight-ounce glasses of water each day.
What kind of water? It's all about plain, old-fashioned water. Even though other beverages, such as soda and coffee contain water, they also don't count. Neither do foods that you eat, regardless of whether or not they have high water content. Remember your water requirement is over and above the water that you can from other foods and beverages you consume. While some of these other sources may help you overcome dehydration, their consumption is factored into your overall daily requirement.
You also have to get out of the habit of drinking water only when you're thirsty. Our thirst mechanism is flawed. By the time you experience thirst, your body is already in the state of dehydration. Even when your thirst is satisfied, you still may be dehydrated. It's important to drink water throughout the day, and it's best to drink only 1 or 2 eight-ounce glasses at any given sitting. This will help you to spread your water consumption over the course of the day, rather than drinking your 8 glasses all at once. When you drink large quantities of water all at once, you stimulate your body to rid itself of water. Also, try not to drink your water too late in the evening. Otherwise, you'll find you find yourself waking up throughout the night!
