One of the most common diseases brought about by the modern way of life is certainly diabetes. There are different causes of this disease ranging from hereditary factors, through irregular eating to accumulated stress. Unfortunately, this disease has also affected the young population in an increasing number.
Most people when they find out that they are suffering from diabetes are most likely to fall into depression and take the whole situation in a very tragic way, believing that they will not be able to live after this knowledge.
However, the truth is actually different. By correcting the diet and life in general, and by taking appropriate therapy, diabetes can be controlled. With most important discipline and regular control of the level of glycemia diabetic patient can live a fulfilled life.
Diabetes is the condition that results from lack of insulin in a person's blood, or when their body has a problem using the insulin it produces (Insulin resistance). There are other kinds of diabetes, like diabetes insipidus. However, when people say "diabetes", they usually mean diabetes mellitus. People with diabetes mellitus are called "diabetics". Glucose is not regular sugar that is available in stores and supermarkets. Glucose is a natural carbohydrate that our bodies use as a source of energy. The kind of sugar sold in supermarkets is called sucrose and is much different from glucose. High concentrations of glucose can be found in soft drinks and fruits. Glucose level in the blood is controlled by several hormones. Hormones are chemicals in your body that send messages from cells to other cells. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas. When you eat, the pancreas makes insulin to send a message to other cells in the body. This insulin tells the cells to take up glucose from the blood. The glucose is used by cells for energy. Extra glucose that is not needed right away is stored in some cells as glycogen. When you are not eating, cells break down glycogen into glucose to use as energy. Wikipedia
There are two types of diabetes:
Diabetes Mellitus type 1
Diabetes Mellitus type 2.
Type 1 diabetes is likely occurs in early childhood or puberty. As to the cause of the occurrence, it is mainly a hereditary factor, although a stronger infection may cause it. Unfortunately, it has now been found that this type of diabetes is difficult to treat, and the only so far recognized therapy is an insulin injection. Of course, the essential nutrition and incredibly important physical activity of young people are crucial: Every type of physical activity in the form of walking, running or dealing with any sport is of great importance for maintaining control.
In type 2 diabetes, in most cases occurs as a result of accumulated stress, mainly in the fourth and fifth decade of life. It is unfortunate that stress is just a trigger, which is preceded by irregular nutrition, but also obesity. This type of diabetes can in most cases be controlled by appropriate drugs and by changing the diet and life in general. Physical activity in this type of diabetes is also of great importance. As it is mainly reported in older people, it is necessary to reconcile physical activity with opportunities and abilities. Daily walks are recommended.
In addition to these two types of diabetes, there are several other types. One of them is "Gestational Diabetes" that occurs during pregnancy. In most cases, it is transient, that is, it ends after delivery. In many pregnant women with diabetes, later on, there is type 2 diabetes. According to statistics, this type of diabetes occurs in 2-5% of pregnant women, and pregnancy is considered high-risk in this case, so additional regular controls are required to be performed at the recommendation of the doctor.
Causes of rare types of diabetes, which do not belong to any of the listed species, may be different: chemicals or medications that a person takes into the body, disrupting the functioning of certain organs, various hormonal disorders, pancreatic diseases, various genetic effects ...
To prevent potential this disease, it is advisable to take care of diet in the first place.
This means that you should take the optimal amounts of nutrients, take care of your body weight, and introduce physical activity as one of the responsibilities. Of course, all this sounds good; it just needs to be applied.
