DEPPRESION is a serious DISORDER | Reblog |

DEPRESSION

I had a research about depression. Of what causes it, factors and any problems that may lead to depression. This might not be helpful but I would like to share my knowledge about this kind of mood.

What really is DEPRESSION?

While we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time, some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time (weeks, months or even years) and sometimes without any apparent reason. Depression is more than just a low mood – it's a serious condition that affects your physical and mental health.

Depression affects how you feel about yourself and makes life more difficult to manage from day to day. The encouraging news is that there are a range of treatments, health professionals and services available to help with depression, as well as information on what you can do to help yourself.

I have friends that have experienced depression. I consider it as an ailment. It is a serious illness for it might lead someone to a suicidal attempt wanting his/her life to end. As a person, we might not be able to control our feelings. And sometimes we don’t know that we have offended someone who did not make any actions to make you angry. While we don’t know exactly what causes depression, a number of things are often linked to its development. Depression usually results from a combination of recent events and other longer-term or personal factors, rather than one immediate issue or event.

Here are the personal factors that cause depression:

1.) Family history – Depression can run in families and some people will be at an increased genetic risk. However, having a parent or close relative with depression doesn’t mean you’ll automatically have the same experience. Life circumstances and other personal factors are still likely to have an important influence.

2.) Personality – Some people may be more at risk of depression because of their personality, particularly if they have a tendency to worry a lot, have low self-esteem, are perfectionists, are sensitive to personal criticism, or are self-critical and negative.

3.) Serious medical illness – The stress and worry of coping with a serious illness can lead to depression, especially if you’re dealing with long-term management and/or chronic pain.

4.) Drug and alcohol use – Drug and alcohol use can both lead to and result from depression. Many people with depression also have drug and alcohol problems.

Recovering from a mental health condition
So, there are also stages in recovering from depression. These are the following:

a. Shock at having to deal with something difficult and scary that you have no prior experience of.
b. Denial or difficulty in accepting having a health problem, particularly one that many people find hard to understand.
c. Despair and anger at having to deal with the condition and its related difficulties.
d. Acceptance of having a condition and the changes it brings, and accepting how others see you and how you see yourself.
e. Coping by finding new ways to live with and tackle these changes and challenges.

Recovery goes beyond focusing on managing distressing symptoms but about having choices and being able to create a meaningful and contributing life.
There is no one proven way that people recover from anxiety or depression, and it’s different for everybody. However, there are a range of effective treatments and health professionals and other support people who can help you on the road to recovery. There are also many things you can do to help yourself to recover and stay well. The important thing is finding the right treatments and the right health professionals and support team that works for you.
As a student, I’m am facing difficulties whether financially, emotionally or even physically. Instead of minding those problems, why not try to socialize with others for you to get some help from them. Our family is the first people ready to help us escape from depression. Every problem has its corresponding solution.

Remember ...
Everyone’s different and it's often a combination of factors that can contribute to developing depression. It's important to remember that you can't always identify the cause of depression or change difficult circumstances. The most important thing is to recognize the signs and symptoms and seek support.

That ends my research about depression. Hope you've learned something fellas.
Thanks :)
