The most common problem a women faces in her life is loosing pregnancy weight.
Being a mother is a wonderful experience but loosing mommy's pouch- OH MY GOD😌
Same thing is happening to me.
It's making me think about why it is too difficult to loose pregnancy weight??
After studying, I found some reasons like-
- Lack of sleep
It is natural that after becoming a mother, it becomes impossible to stick to any routine.
Everything becomes disturbed starting from eating habits to sleeping time.
And moreover care for the baby makes us too stressed to take a sound sleep.
Lack of sleep may disturb the cortisol level which is
Responsible for metabolism in the body and this may lead to weight gain rather than weight loss.
Moreover disturbed sleep may affect the choice of food which causes weight gain.
- Stress
Being a mother is definitely a stressful job specially if you are a working women or you are having first baby.
Taking care of baby, feeding the baby, health of the bay etc brings you stress all day which may definitely lead to disturbed hormonal level and food habits.
- Atmosphere
New mom is always showered with homemade meals specially in our India culture, new moms are fed sweets and ghee and such fatty food which may cause weight gain rather then weight loss after delivery.
How to deal
First of all have some patience.take a deep breath. Understand one thing that your body has undergone many physical and mental changes during your pregnancy.
Give yourself some time as it will take about 9-12 months to reduce your pregnancy weight.
Start with light exercise in the beginning like walking, squads, stretching etc that too after consulting your doctor as your body should be fit enough to do exercise otherwise it may lead to other complications.
Make small changes in your food habits like say no to fried food, packaged food like potato chips, sweets etc.
Try to have homemade food as much as you can.
Replace your deserts with flavoured yogurt or some healthy option.
Eat more fruits.
If you are craving for snack, you can choose pop corn or other light calorie snack.
Start some exercise with a trainer or you can do your household work like mop your house, wash your clothes etc.
Drink plenty of water.
Do yoga to keep your mind calm.
Make small targets instead of thinking of loosing 10 kg at once.
Consult a dietician to opt for a plan suitable for your life style.
Don't do crash diet as it can lead to nutritional deficiencies.
