Noise Pollution - One threatening urban pollution
Source
Noise pollution is one of the rising urban pollutions that comes after - the fundamental air, water and soil pollution. It has major potential to degrade your quality of life.
Sound can be produced by every activity we do. But when the sound after a certain level become unwanted and harmful, it is called 'noise'. A unit is known as decibel(dB), generally used to measure the loudness or intensity of noise.
Some health studies indicate that -
A long exposure to noise above 85 dB can cause hearing loss and may give rise to related health problems to human.

The irony is even by long exposure to noise, most of us fail to identify the hearing damages. We come to recognize it's adverse effects once the damage is done permanently.
Rise of Planet of the Noise
Sorry but couldn't resist using this!! Loved the
movie
No doubt noise has always been there, but it started rising in alarming rate during the industrialization period. Development in transportation and vehicular technologies also contributed to the rising event.

The noise became an everyday part of the modern society. Soon, the human population started to identify the harmful effects of noise and recognized it as a pollution.
The Noisy Break
Now you know that noise pollution is one of the reasons that can be blamed for your hypertension, headaches, and ear-ringing(tinnitus). Here are some ways that can help you to catch a break from irritating noises.
Let's start with small steps -
- Try to listen below 40 dB sound level using your ear/headphone.
- Always keep the volume low for your T.V., Radio and music players. It will keep your ear safe and also the people around you.
While driving try to use the horn only when it is needed, you can use the headlight as well instead of honking.
SourceTry not to use your cell-phone/ laptop/ PC and etc, at least 1 hour before you sleep. After following this for a month or two, you can slowly increase the amount of time. (Eg - 2 hours instead of 1 hour.)
Tune your electronics, gadgets, and machinery up to date by regular servicing. This step will also save your electricity bill and petroleum consumption while regulating the noise and air pollution.
Sources- 1 and 2Use earplugs when sleeping. Because noise can interfere with the brain even if we fall asleep. Good sleep without disturbing noise can help to recover your vitality.
Planned ways to reduce noise -
The walls can be covered with acoustics for noise absorption. Also, the soundproof cabin can be installed if there is a chance of high sound emission.
Plants and trees act as natural shock absorbers including noise. You can fence your house with the lush green cover of plants to eliminate incoming noise.
Well planned construction/ architecture can effectively block the noise you can hear in your building or house.
Similar can be said for urban constructions like road, railways, airways and etc. Authorities must keep in mind that the residential buildings must not remain very close to these highly noise polluted areas.
Reduce the "Noise" But not Your 'Temper'
Even trying out the safety measures there will be some events you cannot control. For example, you cannot control the barking dogs from the street neither you can silence the baby crying out loud in your neighborhood. So, don't be overwhelmed by the things you cannot control but we can instead focus on the solutions we can create. What would you say about that?
