Funtional Medical Blog

Howdy all!

I am new to Steemit and new to blogging in general (tried it several years ago but never got off the ground) so please help me become a great blogger.   I have been a medical doctor who combines the wisdom of complementary medical practices with the science of allopathic training for many years.  I hold doctoral degrees in veterinary medicine and human medicine and an honorarium in alternative pastoral medicine.   So I am blogging in an effort to be of service to a bigger audience than one is able in a clinical practice seeing patients one at a time.

For my inaugural medical post, let's start with the idea of taking full responsibility for our own health.  The technology exists today by which many people will live long past 100 years with vitality.   If you can be creative, contributing, active and healthy, why not live to the point of dying as old as you can feeling as youthful as possible.  Jack Canfield and many others rate *Taking 100% Responsibility* for your life the number 1 principle of success!!  So start with being responsible for your health.    The vast majority of health problems faced by developed cultures are lifestyle based dis-ease.

Lifestyle choices like what you eat, how you eat, how you exercise, how often you exercise, whether you smoke...tobacco or marijuana...all have impacts on your *energy, vitality and longevity*.   Regarding marijuana, while there is much to support CBD oils for health, smoking the plant has many, many health problems that would negatively impact the goal of living with vitality.   Since legalization of marijuana is the trend for both medical and recreational uses, there will be more to write about that later.

While I recommend eating organic foods and avoiding GMO, I have distilled many great dietary books to a simple plan.   Eat 12 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, avoid saturated fats, minimize carbohydrates from breads, pastas, and pastries and drink water flavored with a twist of lemon or lime.   Diet and regular sodas do not hydrate you and both will destroy your metabolism.   I have sponsored   seminars and very much appreciate the work Ms. Openshaw has done in promoting healthy green drinks and cooking.  Diet plans like the Mediterranean Diet have been well studied and proven to change people's lives for the better.  Dr. Campbell explains well in his China Study why diet matters.

Exercise should include both aerobic and resistance training.  Simply walking briskly, yoga or tai chi are great ways to start.   You do not have to join a gym and lift weights for resistance exercises.  Stretch bands and rubber balls are useful to build muscle tone and balance and core strength.

Finally, despite all the opposition from Big Pharma, you need to take targeted nutritional supplements as well as a multivitamin and minerals.

I am not saying anything here that is  not already known to anyone reading it.   It is a matter of prioritizing your health and acting responsibly.   To really stay young for a long, long time, you need to replace aging with bio-identical hormones, consider mesenchymal messenger cell injections, keep your telomeres working, support your brain and gut with neurotransmitter precursors and probiotics and support your genetic expression stability.   There will be much to write about as this blog grows and develops.   What do you think?  What do you want to know?

To your health and vitality!!  Dr. Bryan
